What kind of place is Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch?
Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch is a Japanese home-style diner on the 2nd floor of 27 Namcheon-dongno108beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan. There are so many good restaurants around Gwangalli that it's hard to decide where to go, but I revisited Daidokoro since it was so satisfying last time!

The food at Daidokoro was delicious, but the cute, cozy vibe and friendly service also kept me in a good mood the whole meal 💛 The first time I came for the cuteness, the second time for the taste — definitely a spot worth revisiting!
You can check the menu right at the entrance

Waiting and the waiting area
Since it's a popular Gwangalli spot, there can be a wait. CatchTable is available, so you can wait comfortably.

There's a seat to wait on halfway up the stairs, with water available too

You can feel the good-restaurant vibe right from the entrance ➿➿

Interior and seating
The moment you step into Daidokoro, the vibe is just so cute. Everything is decorated in a cozy, detailed way, making it a comfortable place to linger while enjoying good food.

It's a bit different from the typical Gwangalli restaurant vibe, so it's great for dates or hangouts with friends. I also saw a lot of families here. There are more seats than you'd expect, and the room has 6-person seating, so it's fine for bigger groups too.
A place that clearly cares about guests — with hair ties and a wet-wipe dispenser. There were even basic medicines available.

There's even a guestbook to write in while waiting for food, and it's pretty cute too 🐱
How to use the space is clearly explained, so it's easy to navigate
A review event is running ✔️
The special event is so cute, fun just to look around

Seasonal drinks that change with the season
Daidokoro changes its ade drink by season, and since it's summer, plum was on the menu. When I came in winter it was strawberry — I love that it rotates with the seasons.

There's also a draft beer set

With karaage, udon, curry and more, it's perfect for a day when you're craving Japanese food

You can also add single dishes and side dishes, so you can order to your taste~~

Drinks too, your choice!
The milk pudding 🤍 was the reason I wanted to come back to Daidokoro — it was so good
What we ordered — karaage, curry, chicken nanban, cold citron udon
At Daidokoro we ordered a good spread: karaage, curry, chicken nanban, and cold cheonggyul (green citron) udon 🤍 It comes out neatly as a full set. Every side dish was good too.

Curry
Daidokoro's curry isn't sharply spicy or salty — it's gently flavored, easy to enjoy for anyone. It pairs perfectly with the fried egg on top! It also goes great with the chicken karaage, so I'd recommend eating them together.

Chicken Karaage
Chicken karaage is my number-one pick >,< Crispy outside, moist inside — this dish never fails. Bite-sized and seasoned just right, so it goes well alongside other dishes too. It really tastes like the good old-school karaage, clearly different from the usual frozen kind.
Eating it with the cabbage salad on the side makes it even better

Chicken Nanban
Chicken nanban is crispy fried chicken eaten with a sauce — soft and sweet, it kept pulling me back for more. Eating it with the sauce definitely gives a richer flavor than plain fried chicken — this one's delicious too!
It's really good when you pile on plenty of the sauce

Cold Citron Udon
Cold cheonggyul (green citron) udon is Daidokoro's summer menu item, pure cool refreshment 🫧 Perfect for hot weather! The cool, tangy citron aroma cleanses the palate nicely. It pairs really well ordered alongside greasy dishes like karaage or tonkatsu, giving you a refreshing break in between. A perfect summer dish.
Milk Pudding
Milk pudding, one of my favorite desserts. Soft and sweetly milky, it's the perfect way to finish off a meal. The crumble on top is the kicker.

Why I want to go back
From the cute, cozy space and friendly staff to the great food and perfect dessert to finish — Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch was a place I'd be happy to revisit again. I think it'll be great for anyone looking for a good restaurant in Gwangalli or a Japanese restaurant in Gwangalli specifically ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
