Sushi is one of my favorite foods, but it's the classic dish where quality swings wildly with price! So I never really settled on a regular spot — I was basically a nomad. But here, every plate is ₩1,890 and the quality is genuinely good, so I've been going often. Let me introduce my go-to-go-to-go-to spot near Yeongtong Station: Teukbyeolhan Chobap (특별한초밥, 'Special Sushi').

Where is Teukbyeolhan Chobap near Yeongtong Station, and is there a wait?

Teukbyeolhan Chobap is on the 2nd floor of the Classia Yeongtong officetel building near Yeongtong Station. It's my go-to-go-to-go-to place — usually when I'm craving sushi, I head here. Normally there's a wait every day, but this time there was none, so we walked in super excited.

There's a sofa waiting area at the entrance, so even if you do have to wait, it's not too rough. As soon as we walked in, the rail was loaded with delicious-looking sushi and my mouth was watering.

Seats along the rail or a window table for four: where to sit

The interior of Teukbyeolhan Chobap is bigger than I expected. You can sit at the rail-front seats and comfortably grab plates as they pass, or there are about three tables for four by the window where you can order whatever type of sushi you want and eat there.

Visiting with a baby: high chairs and seating at Teukbyeolhan Chobap

Since we came with our baby, Teukbyeolhan Chobap seated us somewhere comfortable — I really appreciated that kind of consideration!! It was a table for four, but it happened to be the prime spot where you can still reach the rail :) There were plenty of baby chairs set up too, which explained why I saw several other families with babies. It really looked like a restaurant that's fine to visit with a baby!

At the table there's a menu along with chopsticks, soy sauce, pickled radish (rakkyo), and pickled ginger, so you can just help yourself to as much as you need. A basic soup comes out first, and they'll bring you a refill if you ask.

Every plate 1,890 won: how good is the sushi?

Every plate at Teukbyeolhan Chobap is a flat ₩1,890. A wide variety of sushi types come around on the rail. If you don't see what you want, just ask and they'll bring it out for you — feel free to speak up.

Looks pretty good quality, right? I love salmon, and the salmon here is good, so I keep coming back. The rice portion isn't too heavy either, so it's not overwhelming and the flavor of the fish really comes through.

Aged kimchi flounder sushi, beef tartare sushi and the shrimp-and-egg pair

On top of the great salmon, the aged kimchi (mukeunji) flounder sushi, beef tartare sushi, and shrimp-topped sushi are all solid too! There are also plenty of cooked-topping sushi types, which looked good for eating with kids. I sometimes find seasoned sushi types too salty or too sweet for my taste, but the seasoning here is just right, so I kept reaching for more. Especially the shrimp-and-egg combo — you have to try it!

I thought I was eating lightly, but somehow the stack of plates got surprisingly tall? Even after eating this much, I was already thinking about it again — I'm planning to go back with my husband soon :)

Is Teukbyeolhan Chobap in Yeongtong worth it? Final verdict

If you're looking for a good sushi place around Yeongtong Station, this is one worth trying at least once — Teu.Byeol.Han.Cho.Bap :) Even at the budget-friendly price of ₩1,890, the quality of the fish is genuinely satisfying, so sushi lovers should be happy with both the price and the taste. The baby chairs were plentifully set up, and you can choose between the rail-front seats for easy grab-and-go eating or a table for four for a relaxed chat over the meal — we, as a family with a baby, had a comfortable meal here. If you love sushi, it's worth a visit at least once!
