Hongdae brunch café date with mango latte and carbonara: MELA
In short
MELA Hongdae is an all-day brunch café on the ground floor of the Nooted building in Seogyo-dong, Mapo, Seoul, tucked into a residential lane. On a long-overdue Hongdae date, the writer and her husband ordered a mango latte (6,800 won), a mini salad (4,000 won), fragrant minari vongole (23,000 won) and classic carbonara (22,000 won). The minari vongole suited this oil-pasta-loving couple best, and one hour of free parking makes MELA Hongdae an easy choice in a busy part of Seoul.

Hongdae brunch café MELA Hongdae

My husband and I finally had a Hongdae date again ❤ While looking for a nice-vibe brunch spot near Hongdae, we ended up at MELA Hongdae! It's tucked into a quiet residential alley just off the busy Hongdae streets, which made it a relaxing place to enjoy brunch.
Where is MELA Hongdae, and what are the hours and parking?

It's located inside the Hongdae Nooted building. Being a brunch café, it opens early enough to catch a proper brunch, and having a spacious parking lot in a building is a real plus in parking-scarce Hongdae!
Inside MELA Hongdae: natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows
The moment I walked in, I loved the exotic yet classic vibe — like stepping into a European brunch café.

Thanks to the natural light pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the space felt bright and warm — a spot that looked pretty in every photo, straight for the heart.

It was decorated tastefully with objets and small props, and had a bit of a vintage feel too.
With tables for 2, tables for 4, and a long communal wooden table for groups, it would work well for group get-togethers or even wedding invitation meetups.
The antique yet sophisticated atmosphere made it perfect for a date-night mood with my husband after a long time.
What's on the menu at MELA Hongdae?

The menu covers steak, pasta, gnocchi, pizza, all-day brunch, and even desserts.

New menu items — grilled napa cabbage salad and mushroom poached-egg avocado salad — have joined the lineup!

Besides the brunch menu, there's also a bakery selection, so you can enjoy a variety of things.
What this couple ordered at MELA Hongdae, and how it tasted
- ✅ Mango latte / ₩6,800
- ✅ Mini salad / ₩4,000
- ✅ Fragrant minari vongole / ₩23,000
- ✅ Classic carbonara pasta / ₩22,000

You order at the counter, and once the food is ready, staff bring it to your table.

🥭 Mango latte, 6,800 won
A drink where the rich mango flavor mixed just right with nutty milk — smooth and sweet!

🥗 Mini salad, 4,000 won
I also ordered the mini salad, and I was honestly impressed by how generous it was for the size! Big, nutty walnuts, chewy sun-dried tomatoes, fresh vegetables, and a tangy yuzu dressing came together perfectly to wake up the appetite.

🌱 Fragrant minari vongole, 23,000 won
This is MELA's signature dish! Piled generously with fresh, crisp minari (water dropwort), it was a winner on looks alone.

The chewy, refreshing savoriness of the clams was infused with the fragrant minari — no greasiness at all, just a hint of spice and a clean finish.

My husband and I both love oil pasta, and this dish was an exact match for our taste!

🍝 Classic carbonara pasta, 22,000 won
MELA's best-seller, and the dish my husband picked: classic carbonara.

It was a proper, classic carbonara made with egg yolk and cheese.
Bursting the yolk and mixing it through the noodles was pure art — full of nutty, savory richness. The chunky bacon added a crisp, salty bite that balanced what could've been a heavy sauce, and we scraped up every last bit.
Is MELA Hongdae worth it for a brunch date?

From the thoughtfully composed menu to the warm, atmospheric interior, everything about MELA Hongdae came together for a perfect Hongdae date. I'd strongly recommend it not just for couples but as a meetup spot with people you care about — a real brunch gem.
