Hello, I'm a burger maniac. I once visited Rangosu, a famous handmade burger spot in Cheongju, 26 times — that's how serious I am. So when I found Quokka Bite, a handmade burger place on Gyeongui Line Forest Park near Daeheung and Gongdeok Stations, I knew it was a place worth revisiting again and again.

Quokka Bite sits at 11 Baekbeom-ro 24-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 1st floor. Daeheung Station is technically closer, but it's also a quick walk from Gongdeok Station along Gyeongui Line Forest Park. I figured the lunch crowd from nearby offices would pack the place, so I deliberately went for a late lunch — and it worked out. It's also an easy walk from the Mapo Raemian Prugio (마래푸) apartments nearby.

The evening hours run pretty long, so office workers around Gongdeok could easily stop by for a good burger and a beer after work. (Says the guy who works from home, haha.)
How to order at Quokka Bite: beer counts toward the set discount
At Quokka Bite you can order sets that include a side and a drink — and get this, even beer (not just cola) qualifies for the set discount..! I almost ordered without realizing, but the owner caught it and fixed my order for me. Respect.
Since the patties are grilled to order, cooking takes about 15 minutes. The Grilled Quokka seems to be the signature burger, so I ordered the Grilled Quokka Double, with an extra patty. As they say, an even number of patties is the way to go..! If you want the greasy cheeseburger style without vegetables, the Quokka Double Cheeseburger looks like a good choice.

Why is the burger restaurant called Quokka Bite?
I wondered why the place was named Quokka Bite, and it turns out the owner couldn't forget the happiness of crouching in a busy kitchen in Australia, taking a bite of burger during a hectic shift. Their motto is even "Smile with every bite!" — and honestly, every bite of the Gongdeok Quokka Bite burger did bring that kind of satisfaction. The walls are covered with postcards from Australia, and there's a cute quokka plush toy too.
The interior isn't huge, but the half-open kitchen lets you see how clean things are kept, and in this kind of weather the outdoor seats can give you a little vacation vibe.

Burger + onion rings + beer, arriving..!
Among Hawaiian beers, Big Wave shows up everywhere these days, but Longboard is rare to find, so I was happy to see it and ordered one. It reminded me of my honeymoon, when we used to line up all kinds of beers and drink through them, haha.
A savory brioche bun, two patties crisp outside and juicy inside, well-melted cheese, and fresh vegetables.. Nothing unusual about the ingredients, but it felt like the textbook definition of a good handmade burger that nails the basics.
A perfect size to hold and eat with one hand.
The char-grilling brought out the patty's flavor and the juices really burst out.. Personally it reminded me of the burger from the now-closed Malmi in Gangneung, which I still think of as the GOAT.
Onion rings on the side, plus a free hash brown
I liked that the sides had options beyond just fries — sweet potato fries, onion rings, and more. I'd recommend trying the onion rings for sure.
The complimentary hash brown was also crispy and delicious. My wife loves hash browns and it's been a while since she's had one.. Quokka Bite feels like a solid handmade burger spot worth revisiting for a date along Gyeongui Line Forest Park!

ESTD 2026: Quokka Bite is a brand-new Mapo burger spot
It says ESTD 2026..! Wait, that's this year..? So it's a brand-new restaurant, haha. The quokka character design was also super cute.
A bit unsettling with its head torn off like Anpanman, haha.. but they also gave us a fan, maybe as an opening gift, and my daughter thought it was adorable. As a burger maniac, I've got Quokka Bite pegged for a return visit — recommended as a date spot along Gyeongui Line Forest Park.
