Nopo Dwaeji Aewol A lunch special of black pork and stew near Gwakji Beach in Aewol
Today's spot came from my youngest saying we absolutely had to eat black pork in Jeju — so I searched and searched for a good-value black pork spot in Aewol and found this one .ᐟ Our family of five visited and ordered the 4-person lunch special, and the portion was just right, with any shortfall easily fixed by adding a bowl of rice ♥ So let's get into Nopo Dwaeji Aewol, a Gwakji Beach favorite :)
Nopo Dwaeji Aewol location and hours
📍 5-1 Gwakji 9-gil, 1-dong 202-ho (1st floor, unit 2), Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do 🕖 Daily 11:00–23:00 / last order 22:00

This Gwakji Beach favorite, Nopo Dwaeji, is a Jeju black pork specialty restaurant located near Gwakji Beach in Aewol .ᐟ Since the staff grill for you, you can enjoy black pork in comfort and style while chatting with family ♥

Honestly, if the meat quality is good you'll eat plenty either way, so service and the initial searing matter a lot — and here, skilled servers grill for you, plus the black pork is aged in a curing chamber and pre-seared, which was perfect for our family who just wanted to dig in fast ✨
Is parking convenient?
Jeju has a lot of narrow alleys and oddly tight parking lots, but Nopo Dwaeji's lot is huge and spacious, so even new drivers can park very comfortably .ᐟ No need to worry, just come on over :)

Waiting and reservations
We booked ahead for a weekday lunch, so we didn't need to wait — but since it's close to the beach, I'd guess there's a wait on weekend evenings. Reservations are possible through Catch Table .ᐟ

Inside the restaurant
Here's the inside of Nopo Dwaeji Aewol :) The ventilation system was really clean-looking, which I liked right away 💨 The tables weren't cramped either, so even with a full house we could talk comfortably. The wood-and-black interior felt unified, clean, and tidy .ᐟ
Since we had a reservation, they had the table set up ready for us the moment we arrived — such a nice touch 𖤐

The 4-person lunch set: what's included and the price
Here's the Nopo Dwaeji menu .ᐟ We had already decided what to order before we arrived, so we ordered right away :)
- 4-person set — 800g grilled pork + stew + 4 servings of kelp rice
- Stew choice: Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew or 24-hour aged kimchi stew
- ₩103,000

The basic table setting Tangy fresh lettuce salad, radish pickles, wasabi, special salt, salted seafood, pickled vegetables, radish salad, radish wraps, and salted hairtail roe all came out — such a nice variety of combinations to enjoy the black pork with ... ♥

They pre-sear the meat somewhere in the back before bringing it out, so grilling doesn't take long .ᐟ This would be great for families with kids who can't handle waiting ✨

Self-bar
At the self-bar you can grab various side dishes, and the lettuce wraps are free to refill as much as you like - .ᐟ Super fresh too 🥬

Barley-straw-seared black pork, grilled table-side by the staff
They set the charcoal grill on the table first — meat really does taste best cooked over charcoal ♥
Enter the meat, pre-seared over a barley-straw fire 🐷
Normally when our family eats meat, even on trips, Dad's busy grilling and it's hard to actually talk — but here the server grilled for us, so we could eat in total comfort .ᐟ Traveling stress-free is truly the best 👍🏻

Ahh — the meat lined up neatly in rows, cooking away 〰️ No worrying about burning or undercooking, they grilled it to just the right doneness

Grilling the meat lined up like this made for great photos and just looked so neat and satisfying already ♥
Taking a golden-brown piece with a dab of wasabi and biting in ... the burst of juices when you chew is no joke. Wow, so this is black pork 🐗

And dipping it in the fermented anchovy sauce you really need to eat in Jeju — how good could that possibly be ♥ An explosively savory combination

Wrapping it up with radish salad and various side dishes is delicious too 💚 Meat is good no matter how you eat it, but black pork in Jeju has an incredible depth of flavor, and the satisfaction of feeling like you're truly on vacation is no joke either haha

The Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew included in the lunch set
Here's the stew included with the lunch special. Ah ... I knew it was a yellow crab doenjang stew, but I didn't expect a whole crab to be sitting right in there .ᐟ ? And the crab was even plump with plenty of meat 🦀

Of all the black pork restaurants I've tried in Jeju, this was the most delicious and the fastest we've ever devoured a meal (^O^☆♪ We stuffed ourselves full at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol 😵

A walk along Gwakji Beach after the meal
If you eat until you're stuffed, you've got to walk it off 🚶🏻♀️ Gwakji Beach and Handam Beach are right out front, so you get this view too ♥ Promise yourself you'll take that walk
