Hi, this is Mandakko :) This time I went to Daegu and, craving Vietnamese food as usual, stopped by a Chilgok 3-jigu favorite, Raichen Chilgok Branch.
Pho is a dish you can find just about anywhere, but what made this visit to Raichen special was that it's an authentic Vietnamese restaurant where native Vietnamese staff cook the food themselves! It was also a good spot for people like me looking for a place to eat with a baby, so today I'll cover everything in detail — parking, the baby chair, the atmosphere, and what we ordered.
Where is Raichen Chilgok Branch, and where do you park?
Raichen Chilgok Branch is on the 1st floor of 30-23 Dongcheon-ro 23-gil, Buk-gu, Daegu, about 160m from Exit 3 of Palgeo Station on Daegu Metro Line 3. It's near Chilgok Homeplus, so it wasn't hard to find, and if you take the subway it's about a 2-minute walk.
We drove with our baby and parking was easy too. You can park for free at the Heat Town parking lot at 30-23 Dongcheon-ro 23-gil, Buk-gu, Daegu. On weekends and holidays, the Statistics Korea parking lot is also available, which is good to know if parking is a concern.

🇻🇳 Felt like stepping into Vietnam the moment we walked in
Raichen Chilgok Branch has baby chairs ready, which made it easy to sit with our baby. Walking inside, the atmosphere was even better than expected — an exotic vibe that briefly made me feel like I was on a trip to Vietnam. The overall interior has a warm feel, comfortable for dining, and there were other families visiting too~
There are also group reservation seats, so it would work well for family gatherings or dining with a larger group.
What's at the self-serve corner: pickled onions and mini chili peppers
There's a self-serve corner on one side of the restaurant. It has pickled onions and mini chili peppers ready to go, so you can add them to your food to taste. Halfway through pho or bun cha you start craving these little extras, and it was convenient to just help yourself.

And a dish you can't skip on this meal — banh xeo! Banh xeo is one of Vietnam's representative dishes, close to a Korean-style savory pancake (buchimgae) if you had to describe it. The outside is crispy and it's packed with fillings inside, so it's fun to wrap it up with rice paper and vegetables.

We started with the pho. Instead of using premade broth, Raichen says they simmer beef bones and brisket in-house for 24 hours to make Hanoi-style pho broth. The broth is what matters most with pho, and rather than a strong, spice-heavy style, this one had a comfortable flavor that was easy to eat, which I liked.
Charcoal-grilled bun cha, Hanoi style

One of the dishes I personally looked forward to was the bun cha. Raichen emphasizes that it's authentic Hanoi-style bun cha, grilled over charcoal — a rare method in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region — and the distinctive charcoal-grilled aroma of the meat really was the highlight.
Is Raichen Chilgok worth it for pho in Buk-gu, Daegu?
