Family BBQ dinner with kids at Icheon terminal: Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan

In short

Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant newly opened in the alley of eateries in front of Icheon Terminal, Gyeonggi. Visiting with kids, the family grilled charcoal pork neck and the signature spicy raw pork belly, and enjoyed the egg roll banchan (side dish) and spicy stew that came with the meal. Charcoal BBQ table setting at Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi in Icheon

This time we visited Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi, a newly opened Korean BBQ restaurant in the alley of eateries in front of Icheon Terminal, with the whole family!

There are plenty of good restaurants and dining options near Icheon Terminal, but since this one was newly opened, I was even more curious haha. Whenever we eat out with the kids, we often end up at a Korean BBQ place, and this time we got to properly enjoy delicious charcoal-grilled meat and raw pork neck.

How close is it to Icheon Terminal? What about parking?

The location is right in the alley of eateries in front of Icheon Terminal, so it was really easy to get to. Even if you can't park right in front of the restaurant, you can park at the nearby public parking lot and walk to the alley! We parked at the public lot too, and it only took about a 3-minute walk haha.

So personally, I think this location is really great for anyone searching for good restaurants near Icheon Terminal. Walking into the restaurant, the atmosphere felt comfortable and lively. It's great for family dinners, and with plenty of tables, it also seemed like a good spot for gatherings with friends or work dinners.

Charcoal-grilled raw pork neck — how did the kids react?

This time we ordered the restaurant's signature spicy raw pork belly and raw pork neck, which is great for eating with kids! We started by putting the pork neck on the charcoal grill. The smell of the meat grilling over charcoal was so good 🤤 With a subtle smoky aroma, the outside cooked up nicely while the inside stayed juicy, and the kids were going wild wanting to eat it quickly haha.

The raw pork neck in particular was really good to eat with the kids. It wasn't too tough and was tender, so I cut it into small pieces and put it in front of them, and they poked at it with their forks and ate it so well! Then out of nowhere my first child said

Mom, the meat here is delicious!

and ate rice right along with it too 😂💕 Eating meat and rice together, they nearly finished a whole bowl of rice, and as a mom I felt unreasonably proud haha. Isn't a place where the kids eat well basically the real definition of a family-friendly restaurant?

The basic banchan: egg roll and spicy stew

So if you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot in Icheon to visit with kids, I'd definitely recommend ordering the raw pork neck too. And one thing I really loved about Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi was the basic banchan (side dishes)! There was an egg roll included as a standard side, and at first I thought it was a separate menu item. It was so delicious that I was about to order more, but it turns out it's provided as a basic side dish!

Wait, an egg roll this good as a free side dish… isn't that such great value? 🥹💛 The kids ate the egg roll really well too, and it went great with the meat, making the family dinner even more satisfying. And of course, the stew can't be left out! The doenjang (soybean paste) stew that came with the meal had more of a gochujang (red chili paste) stew style — spicy and hearty rather than a typical doenjang stew flavor. As someone who loves spicy food, this was totally my type lol. Eating meat can sometimes feel a bit greasy, but a spoonful of that spicy broth cleared my palate and made me want to eat more meat — pure magic ✨ Personally, if you like this hearty, spicy style, I think you'll really enjoy it.

Service and restaurant atmosphere

Indeed, when looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant in Icheon, the taste of the meat itself matters, but so do the side dishes, the stew, and the overall dining atmosphere — and Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi was satisfying on all those fronts too. Above all, the owner was so kind 😊 They came by with a smile in between our meal to check if the meat tasted okay and if there was anything uncomfortable, in a way that felt attentive without being overbearing, which made the meal even more comfortable.

Comfortable dining scene at the restaurant

Visiting with kids can often get chaotic, but the friendly service meant the whole family could enjoy the meal comfortably haha. If your family loves meat, this is a great spot for a family dinner, it's also great for having drinks with meat with friends, and with its spacious atmosphere, I'd recommend it as a work dinner spot too.

The signature spicy raw pork belly grilled over charcoal had a savory yet compelling flavor too, and it had a different feel from the pork neck, so I was glad we ordered both!

In summary

If you're looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant in front of Icheon Terminal, give the newly opened Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi a try! The raw pork neck grilled deliciously over charcoal was a hit with the kids, and the signature spicy raw pork belly was also great to enjoy 💕 On top of that, the delicious egg roll served as a basic side dish and the hearty, spicy stew made for a filling meal.

It's a place where you can enjoy a comfortable atmosphere whether it's a family dinner, a gathering with friends, or a work dinner, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good restaurants near Icheon Terminal, Korean BBQ in Icheon, or good Korean food in Icheon :) Our kids ate the meat so well that we're likely to come back again haha.
