Seonyudo burger restaurant for a cycling refuel: BAS Burger

In short

BAS Burger Seonyudo is a burger restaurant near Seonyudo Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. I stopped by at 2 p.m. by bike for the ₩18,500 Tam-yok Burger Set, Hoegaarden draft beer, and unlimited free James Gam chips. Verdict: a seriously filling post-ride meal.

This is a pedestrian bridge somewhere in Yeongdeungpo-gu that crosses the Seobu Expressway. It connects directly from the Anyangcheon bike path. It is a road famous for traffic jams, but both directions are nice and clear today? This is my first time seeing the Seobu Expressway this quiet. I had something to bring over to Yeongdeungpo today, so I came out with my long-distance touring saddlebag attached.

Cross the bridge, take the elevator down, and go straight—you arrive right at Seonyudo Station. Which means the good restaurants around Seonyudo Station are incredibly easy to visit by bike. You can also easily cycle to the restaurants around nearby Dangsan Station from here. Wait for me, Yeongdeungpo restaurants!

From Seonyudo Station Exit 4 to BAS Burger

Before long, I arrive at Exit 4 of Seonyudo Station on Line 9. The sunshine is lovely, but it is not hot: perfect fall weather. But with the ride and the time of day, I am hungry.

Today’s final Seonyudo food destination is BAS Burger Seonyudo. It is so close that saying it is practically attached to Exit 4 would not be an exaggeration.

I like BAS Burger because you can have draft beer and craft beer with your food. There are hardly any burger places where beer is an option.

Walking in at 2 p.m. with no break time

I park my bike at the entrance and head right in. Another great thing about BAS Burger is that it has no break time. My visit time is 2 p.m.

Entrance to BAS Burger Seonyudo at 2 p.m.

There is a long kitchen on the right, with a dining area that runs alongside it like a corridor.

Past where the kitchen ends, there are larger tables farther inside. Guests are eating here.

I settle into a seat near the entrance where I can see my parked bike.

I order straight away through the tablet installed at each table. It is a system where you can pay immediately, too.

Tam-yok Burger Set and Hoegaarden draft beer

Naturally, I go for the burger that looks the most loaded. It is called the Tam-yok Burger Set (₩18,500).

And a glass of draft beer, too. In my heart, I wanted a large glass, but since I still had to ride, I ordered a small one. The draft beer is cloudy, right?

It is Hoegaarden draft beer, no less. Places where you can have Belgian ale on draft are not common. This is draft beer with yeast fundamentally different from lager draft beer.

Unlimited free James Gam chips and sweet potato fries

Another BAS Burger feature: potato chips are unlimited and free from the start. And the chip quality is amazing, too. Together with the Hoegaarden draft beer, they faithfully serve as today’s appetizer. The chips even have a name: James Gam.

Now the buzzer lets me know that my burger is ready.

I pick up the Tam-yok Burger Set from the kitchen.

BAS Burger uniquely has a range of standardized house sauces ready to go. I do not know how many BAS Burger branches there are nationwide, but this would be impossible for a small operation. Back at my seat, it is time to see just how indulgent this burger is.

Before the burger, there is something to polish off first: sweet potato fries. Since the potato chips are unlimited and free, I choose sweet potato fries instead of regular fries with the set. Sweet potato fries are much sweeter than potatoes.

The Tam-yok Burger with two thick patties

Finally, on to the Tam-yok Burger~ Keep in mind that there are various options when ordering it.

With two thick patties, bacon, tomato, vegetables, and more, the very look of it is indulgent.

Now for a huge bite~ It comes in a pocket-shaped paper sleeve, so the sides do not burst open and you can eat it without spilling.

Honestly, it is seriously hearty.

A hearty Tam-yok Burger Set meal

Wow, I am full. As expected, a high-quality handmade burger makes a great meal and solid fuel for riders. Now I understand why there is no break time. Delivery orders keep pouring in nonstop.
