Yeongdeungpo Korean restaurant for group clam shabu: Palmi
In short
Palmi Jogae Kalguksu is a Korean restaurant in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, serving a dinner course of clam and meat shabu-shabu, kalguksu, and abalone porridge. We shared an enormous platter of seafood, vegetables, and meat before finishing the deepened broth with noodles and porridge. Verdict: a generous, shareable meal worth returning for.

I was looking for somewhere to have dinner in Mullae and ended up at the new Palmi Jogae Kalguksu!! (How long am I going to keep eating Mullae-dong fried chicken?!!!) The platter was overwhelming from the moment it hit the table, so we had a seriously proper feast. Haha.
Palmi Jogae Kalguksu in Mullae: space and seating

Once inside, the restaurant was bigger than I expected. The warm lighting against the wood-toned interior made it feel clean and welcoming.

The tables were spaced comfortably apart, with mostly standard chair seating, so it looked easy for a group to dine together. There is also a separate room for 6–8 people, so it could be worth checking out for anyone looking for a group-meeting restaurant near Mullae Station.

We sat by the window near the entrance. Rather than being loudly bustling, it had the feel of a neatly laid-out table for a good meal, so it seemed like a nice fit for chatting over drinks or when you want Korean food in Mullae. (The branding is so pretty too—it totally has that polished franchise vibe!! Please open a branch in my neighborhood~~)

The dinner course, from clams to abalone porridge
We visited in the evening and ordered the Palmi Clam Shabu Kalguksu dinner menu.
- Clam shabu-shabu
- Meat shabu-shabu
- Kalguksu (knife-cut noodles)
- Abalone porridge
Everything comes as one menu to eat in sequence, so you can enjoy it like a full course.

They also have seasonal seafood dishes, so even if you visit often, I think you could try new flavors!

A welcome drink and a generous clam-shabu platter
While we waited for the food, a welcome drink arrived first: an icy blended wine slushie.

It was sweet and cold, just the thing to wake up your appetite, and perfect for a light sip before getting properly started.

Then the main platter appeared, and honestly, it felt much bigger in person than in the photos. Haha.

I wanted to photograph this so beautifullyㅠ but I was sad because the photos just do not show how massive it wasㅠ

Mussels, several kinds of clams and abalone, vegetables, enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, and thinly sliced meat for shabu-shabu packed the platter all the way around. It looked seriously abundant, fitting for the star shabu-kalguksu dish.

We cooked and ate the mussels and abalone first,

then added the vegetables and meat for shabu-shabu.

There were three sauces too—sweet chili, chojang (sweet-tangy red chili sauce), and wasabi soy sauce—so it was fun changing up the dip to suit each ingredient.
The clams were great with chojang, while the meat paired nicely with a little wasabi soy sauce.
They also served fresh geotjeori (lightly seasoned fresh kimchi), which they say is made every day, and it was nice to have between spoonfuls of hot broth. It was not heavily seasoned with strong spices—just! Delicious homemade-style geotjeori! It went so well with the kalguksu.

Spicy broth, draft beer, and kalguksu to finish
We also ordered a draft beer that day, and with a dish like this—one with so much broth—you just cannot not think about drinking. Haha.

A spoonful of hot, spicy broth followed by a sip of cold draft beer was the ultimate meal-and-drink pairing.

I have become a lightweight lately and only drink a tiny bit, but it still made me think that if home were closer, I would want a shot of soju.
After eating a fair amount of clams and meat, it was time for the kalguksu! The noodles came separately in what looked like a jewelry box, hahaha.

Once they were added to the broth and bubbling away, the noodles soaked up all the flavors from the clams, vegetables, and meat we had eaten before.

That made the broth seem richer as the meal went on than it had at the beginning, and at this point I understood why people seek out shabu kalguksu in Mullae.

Even after the kalguksu, it was not over.

At the end, we added rice to the remaining broth and finished with abalone porridge. Slowly simmering the rice in that broth softened and rounded out the spicy flow of the meal, so we ate well right through to the last bite.

Maximum nutty goodness! A fantastic, perfect finish~ It was a really satisfying spread for Korean food in Mullae too. Especially for a group, it seems ideal: everyone can gather around the huge platter in the middle and cook it together, making it a great menu for a group get-together near Mullae Station!
