Yeongdeungpo Japanese bar for aged sashimi: Robadayakki Sodam

In short

Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch is a Japanese bar in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, between Yeouido and Saetgang stations. I had the ₩48,000 sashimi and oden nabe set for three, plus ₩6,500 bacon cheese rice-cake skewers, in a reserved room. Verdict: the chewy aged sashimi and hot-to-the-end oden soup made Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch a place I want to revisit for drinks.

After a simple meal in Yeouido, we were wondering where to go for a second round and ended up at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch, a Yeouido Japanese bar. The atmosphere was lovely, so I think it would be great for a date too, and the food quality was honestly among the best of the bars I’ve visited lately—I was so satisfied, so anyone looking for a Yeouido bar, come runningღ

We booked ahead because of our gathering and were shown to a room, but the atmosphere was so good that next time I want to come alone for a drink and sit at the bar table..ෆ

They gave us a soft-fried egg as a basic side dish, which was nice for settling the stomach before drinking(?)

Sashimi and oden nabe set

We ordered the set at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch, which comes with small sashimi and oden nabe, because it was ₩4,000 cheaper than ordering them separately—but doesn’t it look so delicious?!>_<

Set menu of sashimi and oden nabe

The oden soup came in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), so we could enjoy it hot until the very end, and it was generously filled with fish cakes.

It had a great variety, including fish cakes with glass noodles, cheese-filled fish cakes, and skewered fish cakes, so it was easy to pick according to your taste. Even after quite a while, the fish cakes stayed springy and chewy, which gave them a great texture! With crown daisy and radish in it too, the broth was wonderfully deep and refreshing..ෆ

Chewy, deeply flavored dry-aged sashimi

Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch has an aged-sashimi refrigerator, and the sashimi you order is served in a seasonal assortment that can include sea bream, flounder, salmon, mullet, yellowtail, amberjack, tuna, and more.

Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch uses a dry-aging method, so you can try sashimi carefully aged at a consistent temperature and humidity. Overall, it had wonderful savory depth, with chewy texture and rich flavor working beautifully together, and I think it was the most delicious aged sashimi I’ve had at an izakaya.

Sweet bacon cheese rice-cake skewers

Sweet bacon cheese rice-cake skewers

Aren’t the bacon cheese rice-cake skewers adorably round?>_< The nutty cheese inside paired nicely with the bacon, and the sauce brushed on the outside made these deliciously sweet skewers.

The atmosphere makes it great for a Yeouido date too, and I was satisfied enough with the overall food quality that I want to visit again. With such a wide selection of dishes, it works equally well as a first or second stop, and I recommend Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch to anyone looking for a good restaurant bar in Yeouido or near Saetgang Station :)
