Last weekend, I had an errand in Dongtan 2, and with a little time to spare afterward, I ate at a great restaurant near Dongtan Central Park in Dongtan 1. It was even more delicious than I expected, so I can confidently recommend it to you all! I went to Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal, near Central Park in Dongtan 1, and had the most delicious kimchi jjigae for Sunday lunch.
Is parking near Dongtan Central Park convenient?

I drove there, and there was parking right in front of the restaurant, so it was wonderfully convenient—no need to go far at all. If it happens to be full, there is public street parking near Central Park that you can use. Luckily, one spot was open right in front, so I slipped straight in and parked! When parking is inconvenient, I tend not to go back, so this easy parking was a real plus :D
Kimchi jjigae set for two, plus extra add-ins

Once we went in and got seated, we spent ages deciding what to eat. After much deliberation, we went with the kimchi jjigae set for two—because Koreans and soup just go together! The set menu looked like a great value and plenty of food.

My husband and I were very thorough with the add-ons, too. We boldly added extra tofu and ramen noodles to the kimchi jjigae set for two, haha.
Spacious table layout and individually wrapped cutlery

There was plenty of space between the tables and quite a lot of tables overall, so I would absolutely recommend it for a company dinner in Dongtan, too. The owner and staff were all attentive to hygiene and so kind—just great!!! The interior itself was clean as well, which made it even nicer.

All the cutlery came individually wrapped in sanitary utensil sleeves. Since personal hygiene has become so important after COVID, little things like this are quietly reassuring and lovely.

The basic side dishes were neatly served, too. There were three: seaweed flakes, salted seafood, and soy-braised beans. You could conveniently help yourself to extra side dishes at the self-service bar.
Thick, fluffy rolled omelet with ketchup

My favorite rolled omelet arrived! Honestly, the very reason I had been looking for Korean food near Dongtan Central Park was this!!!! I really wanted the rolled omelet sold here, and it looked so delicious—thick and fluffy. You can tell how pillowy it is even in the photo, right!? The sweet-tangy ketchup is a bonus.

It was so good with rice.... Why can’t I make this flavor at home..!! There is a reason restaurant rolled omelets are different...
Kimchi jjigae set for two with extra tofu

The kimchi jjigae arrived. It came in a big brass bowl and was so generous. Since we had added ramen noodles and extra tofu, it looked even more abundant. You really must add the tofu—it was so delicious.

There were large chunks of meat inside, and we were told to cut them up, then enjoy them after 3–4 minutes. My loving husband cut them up nicely for us, hehe. The meat was thick and substantial, and it looked truly satisfying and delicious. All the meat juices were still there, which made it even better~ Looking at the photos makes me want it again.
By the way, you know there has been such an uproar about formaldehyde in Chinese kimchi lately, right? When you go out for kimchi jjigae, I think it is best to make sure the kimchi is domestically sourced. This place uses domestic Korean kimchi...♥️

Just ladle it nicely into your bowl and slurp it up.

Siru Papa, who loves mixing food together, scooped kimchi jjigae onto his rice and sprinkled seaweed flakes over it for a seriously delicious bite. I need to learn from him.

And after we had eaten a fair amount of the solid ingredients, we added the ramen noodles for a perfect grand finale. This Dongtan Central Park restaurant had Siru Papa binge-eating for the first time in a while, haha... I totally agree.
