Ansan Korean restaurant for LA galbi and yukhoe: Yangsimso

I was looking for a good meat restaurant in Gojan-dong and really wanted proper beef and LA galbi, so I went to Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch! I had originally come for the lunch set with naengmyeon, but it had stopped being served after 2 p.m.? A little disappointing, so I just ordered a set instead!

I loved that the set lets you enjoy everything at once, from marinated LA galbi and plain ribs to yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and doenjang jjigae (soybean-paste stew). To give you the conclusion first, not only the meat but also the yukhoe and stew were delicious, so it was satisfying for both a meal and drinks :)

Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch between Jungang and Gojan Stations

It is located between Jungang Station and Gojan Station, and I went because it was near my friend's house!

When you look for a great beef place in Ansan, it can be hard to decide where to go. This time, I searched for a good meat restaurant in Gojan-dong and ended up visiting Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch.

It was not difficult to find, and the clean, meal-friendly atmosphere made it an easy, comfortable visit.

Because I had made a reservation, the side dishes were set out in advance. That shiitake wasabi over there was seriously delicious!

A half-and-half set with marinated LA galbi and plain ribs

We ordered the half-and-half LA galbi set. Since it lets you try marinated LA galbi and plain ribs together, I liked being able to enjoy more variety than with just one kind of meat. It also came with yukhoe and doenjang jjigae, so it was more generous than I expected.

The plain ribs and marinated ribs come in equal portions, and the color is just gorgeous~~

Sweet-savory marinated LA galbi

I grilled the marinated LA galbi first. The seasoning had soaked nicely into the meat, so a delicious smell started wafting up as it cooked. It was sweet-savory while still letting the meat's own flavor come through, making it great with rice. Once it browned beautifully on the grill, I was reminded that LA galbi really is best when you can properly taste the flavor of the marinade.

Yukhoe that truly exceeded expectations

The yukhoe included in the set surprisingly did not feel like a token free side—it was proper, tender yukhoe. I would absolutely be willing to order this à la carte next time!

The rice-stealing doenjang jjigae

The doenjang jjigae was not merely something to have on the side; it was a total rice thief. It was savory and deeply flavored, and after eating the meat, I kept reaching for another spoonful of rice and stew. A delicious doenjang jjigae at a meat restaurant really raises your satisfaction with the meal, and this one delivered.

A refreshing finish with mul naengmyeon after the meat

After the meat, we also ordered mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) to finish. It was so refreshing to wrap up with cool mul naengmyeon after the beef and marinated meat. Especially after meat with a sauce like LA galbi, a bite of naengmyeon cuts through the richness so well~ Mix in the egg yolk and have a bowl of the broth? Incredible.

Overall, this was a place where I was highly satisfied with everything from the meat to the side dishes. The marinated LA galbi had a tasty sauce, while the plain ribs were mild and nutty, so it was nice to choose according to your taste. Above all, the yukhoe and doenjang jjigae were much better than expected and really stayed with me. Another plus is that it is not a place where you simply eat meat and leave—you can get a hearty full meal, too!
