Ansan sashimi restaurant for warm steamed squid: Eochongye 1beonji

In short

Eochongye 1beonji is a sashimi restaurant near Bandal Island Cultural Park in Ansan, Gyeonggi. I could barely eat raw fish because of enteritis, but my family and I had flounder, salmon, warm whole steamed squid, and gimmaki. Verdict: a great dinner stop after a Bandal Island walk.

Last weekend, I had absolutely no energy, but the weather was so nice that I still wanted to get out? I was thinking, “Is there somewhere I can lay out a picnic mat and just lie down?” and ended up at Bandal Island Cultural Park.

A great spot to lie down at Bandal Island Cultural Park

A resting spot with a sea view at Bandal Island Cultural Park

This is exactly where I lay down. I can’t say it was completely shaded, but there was a view of the sea~ it was fairly quiet~ and the cool breeze made it such a nice spot.

If you go around sunset, you can catch a lovely sunset like this too~ Once the sun goes down, there’s nothing else to do. Time to eat~

Eochongye 1beonji near Bandal Island Cultural Park: location and parking

Since I had an upset stomach and wouldn’t be able to eat much anyway, we went to the sashimi place my mom and dad wanted! We visited Eochongye 1beonji, one of Bandal Island’s signature sashimi restaurants.

Eochongye 1beonji is actually close enough to park at the park and walk over. But walking was hard for me(?) so we parked in the underground garage, a two-minute drive away~

When you come up to the first floor, there are already people properly enjoying outdoor dining in the pleasantly cool weather.

Daily 11:00 AM–1:30 AM / Last order 12:40 AM

Because it is a sashimi restaurant open until the early morning with no break time, it’s the perfect place for dinner if you’re out at Bandal Island!

Eochongye 1beonji has lots of seafood and handles a wide range of fish. Maybe because it’s shrimp season right now, there was also so much fresh raw shrimp. I want raw shrimp so badly,,,,,,,

Eochongye 1beonji’s biggest advantage is not only its many sashimi combinations, but also that you can choose a size for each combination, so there are even more options! We got one small flounder + salmon platter~

From the seafood section, we added squid, one of the cooked seafood dishes! Because for now, cooked food is about all I can barely eat,,,, haha,,

Salt-grilled fresh shrimp, served with butter head, is just right for this weather. If you want to look at the sea and eat delicious shrimp, head to Eochongye 1beonji!

I love that they give you miyeokguk (seaweed soup)~ It doesn’t just have a little broth; it is packed with ingredients too.

And there were onions too, which are salmon’s best friend.

This is the small flounder + salmon platter, and they give you lots of engawa (flounder fin) too.

It looks so good,,,,ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ But little old me with enteritis can’t eat sashimi.

Glossy fresh sashimi
Fresh sashimi of flounder and salmon

Fresh sashimi that looks this glossy and wonderfully chewy!!!!! I got my satisfaction vicariously through my mom and dad’s mukbang. They mixed up wasabi soy sauce and ate it simply dipped in soy sauce~ and made wraps topped with Eochongye 1beonji’s own shiitake wasabi.

Engawa,,, Neither my mom nor dad likes it, so I would normally get to eat it allㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Why don’t they like that crisp little bite of engawa? My dad’s favorite is salmon! He heaps it with onions.

This piece looked small,,,, so I tried one too. With a little radish sprout and wasabi on top haha.

Warm whole steamed squid, freshly steamed

But squid was my staple food that day lololololol. It was whole steamed squid, freshly steamed, so it was wonderfully warm, chewy, and tender.

Do squid have roe too? There was something like innards inside, and maybe because it had been so long since I’d eaten seafood, it was unbelievably delicious.

The body meat was good, and the tentacle meat was good too!

And grilled gizzard shad that we couldn’t order because it was sold out! The owner gave us one fish per person on the house!!! Wow~~~~~~~~~~

Autumn gizzard shad is so deliciousㅠㅠㅠ You have to eat this while it’s warm for it not to taste fishy and to be delicious, and it is tender enough that you can chew up all the bones too.

Finishing with gimmaki and edamame

And squid alone somehow didn’t give me enough energy(?) so I ordered some gimmaki (seaweed rice rolls)!

Gimmaki with flying fish roe
Gimmaki full of the texture of flying fish roe

The flying fish roe wasn’t just popping; it went pop-pop-pop-pop, crunch-crunch, filling my mouth completely, and it was so delicious. And I tried another piece of sashimi,,,

Sashimi eaten with gimmaki

After finishing everything, my mom was looking over the side dishes and ordered peas! These are the beans that go into poke bowls—should I call them Japanese kidney beans? They’re edamame, and they’re tasty.

Ordered edamame

Even after eating lots of different seafood, sashimi is the final course at a sashimi restaurant. We gathered the last pieces of sashimi into one wrap!

One wrap made with the last pieces of sashimi

I may not have been able to eat even one piece of flounder,,, but my mom and dad were full in no time at Eochongye 1beonji, the Bandal Island sashimi restaurant. We found a walking spot and a great Bandal Island restaurant too.
