Hwaseong Korean restaurant for duruchigi: Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae
In short
Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a Korean restaurant near Dongtan Central Park in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. I shared kimchi jjigae, Gyeongsang-style duruchigi, chilled kimchi noodles, and a bulgogi set at weekend lunch; the chunky pork and rice-craving duruchigi stood out. Verdict: a filling, easy stop with parking and solo options.

Let me introduce a great kimchi jjigae spot in Dongtan Bansong-dong with easy parking. My tastes have changed lately, so I've been craving Korean food often—and when I stopped by for a hearty weekend meal, it turned out to be a kimchi jjigae and spicy pork favorite with lots of older guys dining there!
A great kimchi jjigae and duruchigi spot in Dongtan

Their kimchi jjigae set meals are well put together too, but we wanted to try a variety, so the two of us ordered three different dishes, one serving each. Takeout and delivery are available, so Baemin orders kept coming in and delivery drivers were stopping by too. Just note that during the upcoming Chuseok holiday, they are closed only on the day itself! Normally, they are open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight, with last orders taken around 3–4 o’clock.
Location

I visited Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal, a restaurant near Dongtan Central Park, for weekend lunch.
Can you park in front of the restaurant?

You can park right in front of the restaurant, so we had a comfortable meal.
Inside the restaurant

The interior is just the right size. Apparently, this started as a drivers' restaurant serving kimchi jjigae from 2017 and became a sit-down restaurant. They also work on a buy-it-that-day, use-it-that-day principle and use fresh domestic pork, so we ordered the duruchigi (spicy stir-fried pork) too.
Menu and order

It is still a little hot during the day, so I liked the chilled kimchi noodle and bulgogi set at ₩11,000—it is reasonably priced too.

Looking around at the other tables, lots of people were having steamed egg with the value set meals. We chose individual orders of duruchigi and kimchi jjigae instead.
How was the kimchi jjigae in Dongtan?

Since the kimchi jjigae uses domestic kimchi and fresh pork, I think I would have ordered delivery often if I lived nearby.

If you eat at the restaurant, they also serve ssam vegetables, sliced garlic, ssamjang, salted squid, and beans.

The kimchi jjigae comes bubbling away in an aluminum pot.

The pieces of pork were wonderfully big and so delicious—having them with rice was completely satisfying.

The kimchi jjigae broth was not overpowering at all; it felt just like a home-cooked meal?

The pork pieces were so large that you could even wrap them in the ssam vegetables.

Gyeongsang-style duruchigi and chilled kimchi noodles
Still, nothing could beat the duruchigi! They call it Gyeongsang-style duruchigi, and it was exactly my kind of food.

It even has rice cakes in it, and the seasoning itself just makes you want rice—there is nothing lacking here as Korean comfort food when you are craving Korean cuisine!

Maybe because the duruchigi was so delicious, the chilled kimchi noodles felt ordinary.

They are really nice and refreshing for summer. There were little ice crystals floating in the broth, plus plenty of kimchi and seaweed flakes. Add the bulgogi that comes with the set, and there is no need to worry about protein either!

The reviews were all so positive, and after trying it myself, I could see why! The meat quality was good too, so next time I could come back in the evening to grill samgyeopsal.

Parking in front of the restaurant is easy, and they also offer single-serving samgyeopsal kimchi-jjim, so it is a good spot for solo diners too.
