I visited Deo Bareun Jeongyuk Sikdang in Gangnam, where you can get proper meat — from 1++ hanwoo to Jeju black pork — at reasonable prices 🥩 And they even do corkage-free on weekends!! Such a precious spot haha

Corkage free on weekends only in Sinnonhyeon
Corkage-free spots near Sinnonhyeon Station are rare, so even though it's weekend-only, it's still great!!

What we ordered: Jeju black pork 600g ₩69,000 and hanwoo buchu suljab ₩11,000
We ordered
- ✔ Jeju geungogi (black pork, 600g) ₩69,000
- ✔ Hanwoo buchu suljab ₩11,000
Order complete! Seeing the Jeju geungogi made me want to travel to Jeju⭐️

They use real charcoal for the flavor of the meat, so you really get to enjoy the fun of grilling over an open charcoal fire 👍

What are the side dishes like?
The side dishes were all delicious, one by one. The lettuce salad and other vegetables were all fresh, and the scallion salad was perfectly cured — really good haha. The aged kimchi and mountain garlic leaves were also tasty 😎 We tried the meat plain first, then mixed in the side dishes afterward, which was a nice way to gradually change up the flavor

Jeju black pork 600g: enough for two people
Here comes the glistening, moist geungogi! It was more than enough for two haha. The 600g looked to be exactly what was promised

The meat looked very fresh, which was satisfying

Charcoal grill and staff who cook the pork for you
Grilling it until golden over the charcoal let a subtle smoky aroma soak into the meat, giving it much richer flavor than just grilling it plainly
They have a grilling service, so we could eat comfortably haha. The staff grilled it so kindly!

Jeju black pork's appeal is its distinctive chewy texture and savory flavor, and grilling it in big geungogi-style pieces made every bite feel substantial
Compared to regular pork, this is great for enjoying the complex flavor where lean meat and fat come together, and grilling it in big geungogi-style pieces let us fully feel the texture of the meat. The fatty parts turned savory as they cooked over the fire, while the lean parts had a light, clean chew — that was the unique appeal

Mm... the meat sizzling as it cooks

I especially loved how chewy and delicious the ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) part was. It was so good we finished it in 30 minutes haha

Garlic grilled in sesame oil beside the meat
If you ask, they'll grill the garlic in oil for you too. Meat really has to be eaten with savory oil-grilled garlic to avoid feeling greasy haha

Finishing with hanwoo buchu suljab, ₩11,000
After eating meat, we finished with hanwoo buchu suljab (rice with leeks and hanwoo beef broth)! We ordered it on the staff's recommendation, and yeah, after meat, dessert is carbs +_+ With leeks mixed in, it was a great way to cleanly finish the meal after eating meat

The warm broth mingling with the rice comfortably fills up your stomach after all that greasy meat, and the leeks add a fragrant flavor. The fresh yet slightly pungent aroma of the leeks paired well with the savory taste of the hanwoo, making it a delicious combination
Final verdict on this Sinnonhyeon Korean BBQ
A great place to visit near Gangnam, Sinnonhyeon, or Nonhyeon when you want to choose between 1++ hanwoo and Jeju black pork haha. This time I tried the Jeju geungogi, so next time I'll have to try the 1++ hanwoo properly 🥩 Recommended as a weekend corkage-free hanwoo/samgyeopsal spot! Deo Bareun Jeongyuk Sikdang 🤩
