Pork neck and Gangwon-style noodles at Sansol Sinnonhyeon, Seoul BBQ

In short

Sansol Sinnonhyeon is an aged-meat Korean BBQ restaurant about 165m from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Starting with a portion each of pork belly and pork neck, the writer liked the juicy pork neck so much she ordered another portion plus Gangwon-style makguksu (buckwheat noodles), while staff grilled everything from start to finish so she could focus on catching up with her friend. With outlet plugs by the table and room-style seating, it also worked well for a casual friend meetup.

It's been a while, so today I brought a spot near Sinnonhyeon Station! I had plans to meet a friend around Sinnonhyeon and was hunting for good restaurants nearby when I found this Korean BBQ place. It was close to the station and the meat looked amazing just from photos, so my friend and I headed to Sansol Sinnonhyeon. Here's my honest review after trying the aged pork belly and pork neck~!

Walking from Sinnonhyeon Station to Sansol Sinnonhyeon

Sansol Sinnonhyeon is about 165m from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station! You walk a bit from Exit 3, turn into the alley with the Mega Coffee, and keep going up. After about 200m you'll find it right across from Zainus Hotel Gangnam, so it wasn't hard to find at all! Being so close to the station, it's a great spot to meet up with friends :)

Found it! Such an impressive look, anyone can tell this is a BBQ restaurant~~! I feel like I would've walked in even if I just passed by haha

Clean interior of Sansol Sinnonhyeon
Upscale-feeling BBQ restaurant seating area

A restaurant atmosphere with room seating too

The interior was clean but with an upscale feel — exactly my style. I visited during dinner time when it was pretty busy, so I couldn't take many photos inside, but besides regular tables there was also room-style seating, which looked great for gatherings or company dinners!! Everything felt well maintained overall, which I loved.

Table set with pre-arranged side dishes

Starting with a portion each of pork belly and pork neck

We booked ahead through Naver Reservation. When we arrived, the side dishes were already set on the table, and my friend, who'd gotten there first, had already ordered too haha. Our first order was a portion of pork belly plus a portion of pork neck! We decided to try one portion each first and then order more of whichever was tastier. People who really know their meat never order too much at the start~~ tasting first and adding on is the golden rule.

Side dishes: green onion soy sauce, seasoned vegetables, herring roe

I loved that the side dishes set on the table were explained in detail on the tablet! You could see exactly what each dish was while eating, which was handy. Personally, at BBQ restaurants with too many side dishes I tend not to eat much of them, but here the variety was just right and everything was tasty, so I ended up asking for a refill. The ones that stood out most were the green onion soy sauce, seasoned vegetables, and herring roe! They went really well with the meat. Eating them on their own is fine, but paired with a piece of meat, the flavor really came alive!

Outlets beside the table

And there was something my friend really loved — outlets right beside the table! For those of us who never remember to charge our phones, outlets are basically love…haha. Being able to charge your phone while eating meat is such a small thing but genuinely made things more convenient.

Staff-grilled aged pork belly

They grilled our pork belly order first! You could tell just from looking that the fat-to-meat ratio was great, so my expectations were already rising before it even hit the grill haha. I've always been more of a pork belly person than pork neck, so I couldn't wait to dig in.

And the best part — the staff grilled the meat from start to finish (a hundred stars★). It was a rare meetup with my friend after a while, so being able to chat comfortably instead of fussing over the grill was amazing. FYI, if you'd rather grill it yourself, you can just let them know in advance :)

Beautifully golden-brown pork belly! It looked so delicious just from the visual haha. I grabbed a piece with the green onion soy sauce, and the signature savory fat of the pork belly spread beautifully — a perfect match with the sauce. And you know how pork belly can start to feel a bit greasy after a while? A bite of the tangy seasoned vegetables cut right through it, making me want to keep eating haha. The pork belly itself — need I say more… it was delicious as expected!!

Pork neck grilling on the pan

The pork neck that won over a pork-belly person

Next up, pork neck~ It definitely had a leaner feel compared to the pork belly. Honestly, at mediocre BBQ places pork neck can come out dry and tough, so I usually prefer pork belly. But here, one bite of the pork neck changed my mind... Even though it's pork neck, it was packed with juices, releasing them with every bite. Lean but never dry, and surprisingly moist — the pork neck was way more delicious than I expected! Even as a die-hard pork belly person, I found myself loving it, so in the end… I ordered another portion of pork neck haha!!

The extra portion of pork neck that was ordered

Side dish: Gangwon-style makguksu

When we added the extra pork neck order, we also got a side of Gangwon-style makguksu (buckwheat noodles). We'd been eating meat for a while and things were getting a bit rich, and then the noodles showed up! The seasoning sauce itself was so tasty that one bite cleared my palate completely haha. A piece of meat followed by a bite of noodles turned out to be a really great combo. You really do need at least one side dish at a BBQ place~~!

Final thoughts

After eating our fill and heading to pay, there was even candy waiting at the counter. Little touches like that always make me happy haha~~ Overall, the pork belly was great, but personally the pork neck was even more delicious than expected here! The staff grilled everything from start to finish, the side dishes were tasty, and there were even outlets by the table, so it was a comfortable meal in every way. Being so close to Sinnonhyeon Station, it seems like a solid choice for anyone looking for a BBQ spot for a friend gathering, a company dinner, or a dinner date :) Next time I visit, I'll probably order both the pork belly and pork neck again! If you're looking for a delicious aged pork belly restaurant near Sinnonhyeon Station, Sansol Sinnonhyeon is worth a visit :)!!
