Paju café for crème brûlée doughnuts: Heuksadang

In short

Heuksadang is a large handmade doughnut café in Paju, Gyeonggi. We relaxed in its spacious space with our child, tried apple and crème brûlée doughnuts, and checked out the pet-friendly zone and Meongpuccino. Verdict: put the crème brûlée doughnut on your tray first.

Any bread-loving mums who wander around like hyenas every weekend wondering where to recharge on sugar and heal with the kids? Raise your hand if you crave a sweet dessert but absolutely hate that sharp, tongue-numbing, sugar-bomb sweetness! Today I brought you a truly handmade doughnut shop recognized by Blue Ribbon—one that perfectly hit the spot for a dessert lover like me who hates desserts that are merely sweet. The space is super comfortable too, and it is a perfect healing spot where you can bring your pup without feeling self-conscious!

Heuksadang parking and exterior

You know that parking nightmare that breaks out when you enter Heyri Village for a Paju date on the weekend? Heuksadang has a large parking lot directly to the left of the café, so parking is much less stressful. Still, doughnuts can sell out quickly on weekend afternoons, so I strongly recommend arriving a little early, around 12–1 p.m., to claim the pastries at their best!

The moment I got out of the car and faced the building, its exterior was so charming—cool yet warm, just like the meaning of its name: “even a black snake becomes gentle with sweetness.”

The second we walked in, I gasped—the first and second floors are connected by a wide-open void, making the ceiling incredibly high! Low ceilings make sound echo and feel so stuffy, right?

Even among Paju’s large cafés, Heuksadang is one of the most open and sun-filled, and it made my chest feel wonderfully clear. The tables are generously spaced too, a perfect setup for our whole family to sit side by side and take it easy.

Of course, they also have sturdy, clean high chairs!

The restroom is inside the café, and it was spotlessly maintained—no odors at all and every bit of moisture wiped away. It was so comfortable taking my child there to wash their hands.

And this is a Paju dog-friendly café with a cozy pet-friendly zone set aside on one side!! It is not just that dogs are allowed in; they even have a separate “Meongpuccino” menu for canine guests. Next time, I’m coming with Terry!!

The outdoor area is well done too, so it is even nicer outside in autumn!

One thing: when bringing a dog, please thoughtfully follow the rule that they must be carried or ride in a pet stroller!

Mouthwatering doughnuts filled one side of the café ♥ We were already full, so after much deliberation, we chose two.

What we chose at Heuksadang, Paju’s handmade fresh doughnut café

Today’s order: iced Americano, green grape ade, apple doughnut, and crème brûlée doughnut. We had actually searched for somewhere to recharge on sugar after a date stroll through Heyri Village and wandered in as if enchanted—but I can totally see this becoming my permanent Paju dessert spot!!!

Iced Americano that paired beautifully with doughnuts

Iced Americano (₩6,000) First up, the iced Americanos my husband and I had for a caffeine infusion! Rather than heavy, stale burnt notes, they had a light, pleasant acidity, pairing brilliantly with doughnuts that could otherwise feel rich.

Ade loaded with green grape pulp

Green grape ade (₩7,000) The green grape ade our Senny picked was much sweeter than tart! A generous layer of real green grape pulp sat at the bottom, and every sip through the straw had such a lovely crisp chew.

Senny would not give Mum even one sip and nearly finished the whole drink alone.

Apple doughnut overflowing with apple filling

Apple doughnut (₩5,500) The main-event apple doughnut was seriously unreal. They say everything from the dough to the cream is 100% handmade in the café, and the moment I cut into it, apple filling came tumbling out. It was not an artificial, factory-jam taste—the filling had real crisp apple texture, so it tasted wonderfully premium!

As a fresh doughnut, the bread itself was not dry or crumbly at all. It was so soft while still having that pleasingly chewy springiness—just perfect.

Crème brûlée doughnut that was great to take home

Crème brûlée doughnut (₩5,000) We asked to have the remaining crème brûlée doughnut packed up, you know?

But the takeaway box was so neat that it felt like buying dessert at a department store. Once home, I pulled one out for a late-night snack after dinner, and there were real vanilla beans dotted throughout the crème brûlée.... ♥ The sugar coating outside crackled, while inside, a refined, generously vanilla-bean-filled sweet cream melted away in my mouth.

Personally, I genuinely recommend putting the crème brûlée doughnut on your tray as your absolute first choice—no questions asked!!!!

Heuksadang is the perfect Paju café that proved firsthand why it has proudly earned a Blue Ribbon for two consecutive years! Its roomy, open space and high-quality desserts completely refreshed my weekend fatigue. The sweetness was wholesome and not overwhelming, so even after eating plenty of pastry, my stomach did not feel heavy—so satisfying! If you are planning a relaxed weekend outing with your child, or need a sweet Meongpuccino break with your beloved pet without feeling self-conscious, make sure you visit!
