Paju bakery fig cream cheese baguette repeat buy: Boulangerie Tan

Today, I’m sharing Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch, a seriously must-visit spot in Unjeong, Paju for anyone who loves bread! I’m a total bread lover myself, so I tend to seek out bakeries people say are good :) Boulangerie Tan says it makes its breads with naturally fermented starter cultured in-house, organic and French flour, and a low-temperature fermentation of more than 14 hours—without artificial additives such as dough improvers, emulsifiers, preservatives, or colorants! The chocolate baguette and fig cream cheese baguette in particular completely won me over!!! This is one of those places where I totally understood why it’s so popular!

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a takeaway-only bakery in Unjeong, Paju.

Parking

Lots of people visit by car, and you can get two hours of free parking when using the underground parking lot at Palm Star Tower. One thing to note: it is not in the same building as Palm Mart! Be sure to use Palm Star Tower’s underground parking lot. The parking allowance was generous even for a quick bread run, so visiting by car was convenient too :)

A takeaway shop where breads sell out by afternoon

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch isn’t a café with seating where you can eat in; it is strictly a takeaway shop. The space itself isn’t huge, but people just kept coming in!

I visited at around 2 p.m. on a weekday, and more breads than I expected were already sold out. It looked like they were continually making bread inside, but everything seemed to disappear as soon as it came out, haha. I think you might not see the popular items at all if you visit in the afternoon. So if there’s a bread you definitely want, I absolutely recommend coming a little early!

Boulangerie Tan had a wide variety of items, from baguettes and sandwiches to salt bread and desserts.

Personally, I felt the bread prices were quite reasonable compared with famous bakeries these days, and the items generously filled with ingredients were especially satisfying for the price.

So if you love bread, this is definitely a place worth stopping by at least once!

Chocolate baguette and fig cream cheese baguette

I tried several things, but the items I can confidently recommend are the chocolate baguette + fig cream cheese baguette! You really have to try these two. They’re insanely good.

And the fig cream cheese baguette was seriously delicious too :) I liked this one so much that I bought it twice. The crisp yet chewy baguette was packed with cream cheese, plus dried figs, so the texture in every bite was just so good.

The sweetness of the figs, the smooth flavor of the cream cheese, and the mild, chewy texture of the baguette all came through together—such a great combination.

Flan that is best eaten right away

I also tried the flan. It had a completely different, soft dessert feel from the baguettes, so it went nicely with a strong coffee. It was really crisp and flaky when eaten right away, and the filling was so nutty and delicious : )

If you want to buy several baguettes and choose one sweet dessert alongside them, I think it would be nice to try the flan too :) Seeing so many popular items gone and people continually coming in even on a weekday afternoon, I could understand why this is a bakery people line up for. The chocolate baguette and fig cream cheese baguette especially are items I want to go back and buy again!
