Jungja Station Korean restaurant with seafood rice: Morang

In short

Morang Haemul Sotbap’s Jungja Station branch is a Korean restaurant about three minutes from Exit 5, serving hot-pot rice with seafood. I tried octopus-and-scallop rice and seafood rice; the thick scallop and seasoned potato stood out, and the spacious seating suited group meals.

There was a long communal table in the center, along with private booth seating. With private spaces for 4–8 people and group seating for 10 or more, I thought it would also work for eating with several people or for a company dinner.

The thickness of the scallop was especially memorable. There were also seasoned potatoes in the rice, which made the combination fun to eat.

I liked eating the octopus with the potatoes.

I also enjoyed putting the seasoned potatoes and scallop together on gim (dried seaweed).

How were the seafood sotbap and side dishes?

My husband’s seafood sotbap came with plenty of seafood, including shrimp, scallop, oyster, and squid. He said the rice itself had the refreshing flavor and umami of seafood broth.

The basic side dishes were kimchi, macaroni salad, and pickled vegetables. They were neatly arranged and went well with the sotbap.

The thick scallop and seasoned potatoes in the octopus-and-scallop sotbap were the most memorable parts of this meal. We visited as two people for sotbap, but seeing the spacious restaurant and range of seating made it a place worth considering for a meal with a larger group too.
