Trotting along ๑◕‿‿◕๑ Dongbuichon-dong has its own vibe, doesn't it. Today I'll introduce Mellang, where we stopped for lunch after booking the Children's Museum inside the National Museum of Korea. It's a 6-minute walk from Ichon Station and 10 minutes from the National Museum of Korea, so the access is great, and both the atmosphere and the food are good.

Booking the Children's Museum at the National Museum of Korea with a 17-month-old
I visited the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan with my 17-month-old after a while. I'd booked the Children's Museum inside the museum online a few days ahead. Since she came at an age when she's running around and active, she had such a great time. Watching her play so well on her own, I couldn't believe how much she'd grown.
After playing happily with the baby, we headed for lunch at Mellang, a brunch spot near the National Museum of Korea. It's about a 10-minute walk from the museum.
Mellang has been running as a brunch restaurant in Dongbuichon-dong for over 8 years, and it's especially popular with longtime locals. It's easily accessible from Ichon Station, has stylish brunch-café interior, and the food is clean and well-made — Mellang is really the place for a good brunch.
Reserving a window seat at Mellang — and a baby asleep on the way
We'd booked ahead at Mellang. I reserved for 2, planning to eat with the baby, and they even set up the tableware for us at the window seat — I really appreciated that. But then, the baby fell asleep on the way from the museum to Mellang... a sad little tale. Moms out there, don't you all feel the same in these moments? Haha.
Well, I decided to think of it as her being filial, letting mom eat in peace, and thanks to that I got to enjoy the view and eat leisurely. ♥

The seating is spaced out enough that you could eat with the baby and stroller right beside you. If she'd been awake, I would have ordered the aged kimchi cream risotto, but since a rare solo-eating moment doesn't come every day, I went with the salad and pasta combo.
Wine with lunch at Mellang: bottles in the 40,000 won range
A lot of people come here for daytime wine too — it's a nice spot for a casual glass. The wine bottle list runs around the ₩40,000 range, so if you come with two or more people, you can enjoy wine and food together without much of a price burden.
Caesar salad at Mellang, 16,000 won
Caesar salad is my favorite kind of salad. I like Caesar dressing more than balsamic. The croutons, bacon, black olives, and romaine all came together perfectly.
Garlic scape pasta, 18,000 won, with adjustable spice level
You can't skip the garlic scape pasta at Mellang. It's made with olive oil, fried garlic, garlic scapes, and spicy peppers for great depth of flavor, paired with big, plump shrimp and arugula — perfect as a brunch pasta. You can ask for it spicier when ordering, and when I did, they generously loaded it with extra chili.
Above all, the flat white here is really delicious! Turns out this is a hidden gem for coffee too. Have you all tried pasta with a latte or iced americano? It goes together better than you'd think. This is exactly why you eat brunch.
The pasta noodles have a nice bite with a bit of chewiness, which pairs really well with the oily sauce.
