In short

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. We paired spicy cockle jjamppong and jajangmyeon with crisp, sweet-and-sour tangsuyuk. Verdict: a filling choice when you want several Chinese dishes served hot.

Today, my husband said he needed a hangover cure, 🍻😵 and I was craving Chinese food too, so we went together! I’m on team jajangmyeon, but I wanted a little jjamppong too—and some crispy tangsuyuk on the side. So rather than choosing just one dish that day, we decided to try a few things together.

Jjamppong for my husband, jajangmyeon for me, and tangsuyuk! ( ¤̴̶̷̤́ ‧̫̮ ¤̴̶̷̤̀ ) perfect!

Jjamppong, jajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk combinations

The menu at this good-eats spot is simple! It sticks faithfully to the basics, both in menu and flavor! Jjamppong or jajangmyeon + tangsuyuk or fried dumplings.

There’s a self-service corner and aprons too. The basic sides are danmuji (pickled radish), onion, and chunjang (black bean paste)!

Spicy, refreshing cockle jjamppong

First up, 🍜 jjamppong! The broth was spicy, yet the seafood gave it a refreshing flavor.

The noodles went well with the broth too, making this a great hot bowl to enjoy. I think it would be delicious with rice mixed into it too! My husband said it was just right for curing a hangover! Since it was jjamppong with cockles, it was perfect for me to pick out and eat just the cockles 😜 ⁽⁽(ી₍₍⁽⁽(ી⁽⁽(ી₍₍⁽⁽(ી( ˆoˆ )ʃ)₎₎⁾⁾ʃ)₎₎ʃ)₎₎⁾⁾ʃ)₎₎

Jajangmyeon with a finely chopped topping sauce

Next, jajangmyeon! I always make jajangmyeon my main dish, and the sauce had finely chopped ingredients, like yuni-jjajang, that blended beautifully with the noodles. I also loved the springy noodles!

Going with my husband meant I could have both the jjamppong broth and jajangmyeon—two birds with one stone! ⁽̨̡ ¨̮ ⁾̧̢

Jjamppong and jajangmyeon enjoyed together

Crispy tangsuyuk, enjoyed sauce-poured and dipped

And then, the can’t-miss crispy-outside, tender-inside tangsuyuk! ✧*。٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و✧*。

Crispy tangsuyuk
Tangsuyuk with sweet-and-sour sauce

It was crispy outside and tender inside, so it paired nicely with both the jjamppong and jajangmyeon.

It came sauce-poured, but some parts were left uncovered, so you could enjoy it by dipping too. It arrived right away and was crispy. With the sweet-and-sour sauce, it refreshed the palate between bites, like eating danmuji with Chinese food, so I never got tired of it!

Once we ordered, it looked like such a big portion that I thought we might have leftovers. But the spicy jjamppong, sweet jajangmyeon, and tangy tangsuyuk combination was so delicious that we finished it all! We ordered a variety of dishes—jjamppong, jajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk—and had a hearty meal and hangover cure. We ate everything while it was hot and at its most delicious.

When you’re craving spicy broth, choose the jjamppong; when sweet jajangmyeon calls your name, choose the jajangmyeon. It was great to pick according to our tastes, and the crispy tangsuyuk made it all so perfect. If you’re craving Chinese dishes such as jjamppong or jajangmyeon in Dongtan Namgwangjang, I recommend stopping by on a day when you want straightforward, well-made jjamppong and jajangmyeon 🤎 (•ૢꆤ ˙̫̮ ꆤ•ૢ)
