Hwaseong Chinese restaurant: spicy jjamppong and fried dumplings

A late lunch in Dongtan Namgwangjang: a great jjamppong spot for solo dining

Today, I visited a fiery jjamppong place for the first time in a while! It was Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch in Dongtan Namgwangjang.

I visited for a late weekday lunch!! The restaurant was spacious and pleasant, making it absolutely perfect for eating alone. It had such a comfortable solo-dining atmosphere that I think anyone dining alone like me can stop by without feeling awkward, haha. Plus, parking is free for 1 hour 30 minutes—so good! It was convenient to visit by car too, which I loved!

They close at 9:00 PM, so keep that in mind if you're planning to visit! They also have mocha coffee and cocoa ready for you to grab on the way out, so I wrapped up the meal with a dessert—or rather, a coffee.

They don't sell fried rice separately!! Just a heads-up.

You can see how packed it was even at late-lunch time, right?! I guess a good restaurant never stops getting customers, even late in the day, haha.

They were also running a review event! Write a review and you can order either a drink or fried dumplings, which is such a win, haha. I enjoyed my meal and made sure to get that review-event perk too.

Does jjamppong rice come with noodles too?

There are aprons beside the self-service station, so I grabbed one and settled in at my seat. You don't want broth splashing on you when you're eating jjamppong, after all, so I came prepared in advance, haha. Now, let's really get into it.

For reference, I ordered jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup)! I heard that jjamppong rice also comes with a small amount of noodles! So if you want both rice and noodles, I recommend ordering jjamppong rice, haha. You get to enjoy both at once, so it's totally two birds with one stone.

₩6,000 fried dumplings and Level 1 cockle jjamppong

The portion of fried dumplings was seriously insane, hahaha. For ₩6,000, it was almost as generous as a whole bowl of jjamppong!! They seemed freshly fried, so they were incredibly crispy and nice and hot inside. If you love fried dumplings, you absolutely have to try them! They were plentiful and crispy—so good.

I ordered Level 1, which is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun. I chose it because I wanted something pleasantly spicy without going overboard, haha. Would it be just right for my taste~~?

First of all, the cockles were so chewy and bouncy that they had a wonderful bite!! There was a good amount of pork too, and it tasted even better together, haha. And the noodles were seriously delicious... I ended up practically inhaling the whole bowl by myself, hahaha.

And cocoa to finish!!~ What a great meal!! From the chewy, bouncy cockles and tasty noodles to the generous fried dumplings! If you're looking for spicy, delicious jjamppong in Dongtan, I recommend Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch!!! It's great for solo dining and parking is easy, so I think I'll be back again, haha.
