Hwaseong all-you-can-eat sashimi and torched sea bream: Mulgogijari
In short
Mulgogijari Hwaseong is an all-you-can-eat aged sashimi restaurant near Hwaseong City Hall and Namyang City Hall in Gyeonggi. A family visited on a Friday evening, ordered the all-you-can-eat set with sea bream added, refilled the sashimi more than twice, and finished with spicy fish stew for 10,000 won. The torched sea bream and the radish sprout-and-ginger combination are the highlight at Mulgogijari Hwaseong.

This is a repeat-visit favorite of mine..!! Here's my review of Mulgogijari (물고기자리), a restaurant near Hwaseong City Hall that's a real local pick since I live in Hwaseong. Mulgogijari is a chain, but places like this can vary branch to branch, so I'm writing this up for anyone planning to visit the Namyang City Hall branch specifically haha. My family already visited once, loved it, and went back!!
Parking at Mulgogijari Hwaseong: how many cars fit?
First things first — parking!! Parking at the Namyang Mulgogijari is pretty generous. You can park in front of or beside the store, and there's also a vacant lot right next door, so if everyone packs in tight, it can probably fit 10+ cars.

I visited on a Friday evening, so there were quite a lot of cars — about 5 in the lot and 3 more around the store. In the Namyang area of Hwaseong, people tend to drive everywhere, so easy parking actually matters a lot to me..!!
Inside Mulgogijari Hwaseong and what the menu costs

The inside is bigger than I expected! There are several tables, and all the way in the back there's a partitioned area — not a full private room, but separated. It looked good both for a family meal out and for a slightly bigger work dinner. We came as a family, too haha.

My family ordered the all-you-can-eat set with sea bream added. Honestly I know nothing about sashimi — I can only tell flounder and salmon apart — but my dad said, "We have to get the one with sea bream!!" so we went with that.

The side courses served before the sashimi
Once you order, they set the table and almost right away bring out maesaengi porridge (fine seaweed porridge) and a light broth soup. I forgot to take a photo of those, sorry haha...

While the sashimi is being prepared, you're not just sitting around waiting — food keeps coming out.

Sashimi salad, sea squirt, abalone, corn cheese, and grilled mushrooms come out one after another. Nibbling on all of these before the main sashimi even arrives is perfect for building your appetite!!

I especially liked that even though it's all-you-can-eat, they don't just hand you plain sashimi — you get a whole lineup of side dishes with it.

Sea bream sashimi, torched sea bream and the radish sprout + ginger combo
Ta-da~ the sashimi plate came out faster than I expected!! The piece with a bit of white skin still attached is apparently the sea bream. As I said, I'm clueless about sashimi, so I just trusted my dad and dug in — and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely get the sea bream.
They also serve the sea bream torched, and this was seriously so good. A little chewy, with a nutty, savory flavor...!!!

They brought out sushi along with the sashimi, topped with ginger and wasabi. That day I discovered how good ginger actually is... I never really used to eat it, but eaten together like this, it was so good???

So later on, I kept eating my regular sashimi topped with radish sprouts + ginger + sashimi all together lol. Amazing combo... I'm obsessed!!

If you go, you have to try eating it this way. Recommendation from someone who knows her stuff, haha.
How many sashimi refills did the family order?
And of course, the real perk of Mulgogijari is unlimited sashimi refills!! We finished one plate and refilled twice more. By the third round, we felt like we couldn't finish a whole new plate, so we asked for a partial refill of just the pieces we wanted. People with a big appetite, especially guys, will probably love being able to eat as much sashimi as they want without holding back....

When you've been eating sashimi for a while, there's a moment where even the tastiest food starts to feel like a bit much, right? Right around then, fried squid and fried sweet potato show up!!

Finishing with spicy fish stew for 10,000 won
Finally, we also ordered the spicy fish stew. Price: ₩10,000! Personally, I recommend getting the stew even if you're already full when you visit. The broth is richer than you'd expect, and having a hot bowl of soup after eating so much sashimi made for the perfect finish.
Who should eat at Mulgogijari Hwaseong?
I already visited once, loved it, and came back, so personally I recommend this place!!
- Anyone looking for good sashimi near Hwaseong City Hall
- Anyone looking for a family restaurant near Namyang City Hall
- Sashimi lovers who want to eat their fill
- Anyone looking for a Namyang restaurant with easy parking
- Anyone looking for a group dinner spot
You really have to go. It was a Friday evening with quite a few customers, but parking still wasn't hard and the food came out at a good pace. Definitely get the sea bream + torched sea bream... so good...
