I stopped by for a meal on my way to run errands at Dongtan Central Park — the clouds and weather were so nice, and I even saw a cute dog on the way there. Hello~~!

Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a Korean restaurant at 17-9 Bansong-dong, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open daily 11:00-24:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 16:00.

Prices are insane these days, but at least the soju is still affordable! ₩1,900 a bottle. Write a Naver review and get an egg roll or dubu kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi) on the house.

The inside of Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is neatly decorated, and it gets a lot of delivery and takeout orders too. Apparently it's a popular Korean restaurant for solo diners at lunch and dinner, and for group dinners for those near Dongtan Gaenari Park.

Yangpuni menu and prices

As a pork belly kimchi jjigae specialist, the kimchi jjigae here comes loaded with meat. There's a summer special mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) bulgogi set for ₩11,000, a value kimchi jjigae set (kimchi jjigae for two + egg roll) for ₩26,000, plus value pork belly kimchi jjim and value duruchigi (stir-fried spicy pork) sets.

The value kimchi jjigae set, with the egg roll option

We ordered the value kimchi jjigae set. It comes with kimchi jjigae plus an egg roll, though you can swap the egg roll for jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) or duruchigi instead. So many reviews raved about the fluffy egg roll at this Dongtan Central Park favorite, so we went with the egg roll.

It arrives already partly cooked, so you can just dig in right away — and you can spot the big chunks of Korean pork right off the bat. There's plenty of pork packed inside, which makes the kimchi jjigae even tastier. Apparently the meat comes in fresh every day — it even arrived while we were eating! A place you can trust for domestic pork and kimchi.

In the set, you get to choose an egg roll, duruchigi, or jeyuk bokkeum. The egg roll made without a single drop of water is amazing. Definitely order it. The size alone is overwhelming, golden brown outside and moist inside — you can really feel how fluffy it is.

The side dishes come with gim-garu (seasoned seaweed flakes), kongjaban (soy-braised black beans), and squid jeotgal (fermented squid). A total rice-devouring combo.

How does the kimchi jjigae broth taste?

The kimchi jjigae broth at this Dongtan Central Park favorite was rich and spicy — perfect with rice. Honestly, I wasn't that hungry before eating and wondered how I'd manage a full meal, but it was so good we both ended up overeating.

We left completely full and satisfied. It's great for solo dining at lunch or dinner, and the rice-devouring lineup of kimchi jjigae, egg roll, and squid jeotgal also works as drinking snacks for a dinner near Dongtan Gaenari Park. Soju is ₩1,900. This kimchi jjigae place was even tastier knowing the kimchi and pork are both domestic — I want to come back for the samgyeopsal next time. For dessert, we grabbed an americano at a nearby coffee shop.
