In short

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch is a street-food stall selling octopus skewers on Eunhaeng-ro in Jeonju. A family ordered at the kiosk and sat down to eat a cheese octopus skewer for 6,000 won (one spicy, one mild), a katsuobushi octopus skewer for 5,000 won, and a self-serve slushy for 3,000 won. Where is Munkkocchi in Jeonju Hanok Village?

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch is a street-food stall for octopus skewers (munkkocchi) on Eunhaeng-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village. It's inside the village so it's not too hard to find, but the village is big, so I'd recommend pulling up a map before you go haha.

I went to Jeonju with my family after a while haha. Jeonju has so much good food and the Hanok Village is great for hanging out — this is my third time or so visiting — and when you think Jeonju Hanok Village, you think octopus skewers, right? So this time we went to Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch.

It's open daily 11:00–20:30, year-round, but they said temporary closures are announced separately, so I'd recommend checking before you go!

Doesn't this look totally like Hanok Village? Eating in a vibe like this somehow just puts you in a better mood. There are seats too, so if you're tired from walking, I'd recommend having it as a street snack while you sit down!

Munkkocchi menu and prices: what the family ordered

What we ordered at Munkkocchi Mungangjeong was the cheese octopus skewer for 6,000 won (one spicy, one mild), the katsuobushi octopus skewer for 5,000 won, and a slushy for 3,000 won. They also sell chicken skewers, but I remember the octopus skewers being tastier in Jeonju, so I'd definitely recommend the octopus version~

It was pretty hot out, so a cool slushy naturally came to mind~

You can order by kiosk here, and since tourist spots can get chaotic sometimes, it was surprisingly convenient to order cleanly like this! They're also running a receipt review event, so you might as well get a cool slushy and join in~

Self-serve slushy machine

Why the 3,000-won self-serve slushy was worth it

The 3,000 won slushy at Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch is self-serve. Wait, no, seriously — the slushy is self-serve! This turned out to be way better than expected haha. When it's hot out and you get a stingy portion, that's a little disappointing, isn't it ㅠㅠㅠ Since I could take as much as I wanted, I gave it my absolute best effort filling the cup haha.

Cup of self-poured mango-flavored slushy

Honestly, in my heart I wanted to fill the lid all the way up, but I figured I'd leave some, so out of a small sense of conscience(?)... I stopped at this much. But seriously, on a hot day, that cool mango flavor was so sweet and made me so happy! It tasted exactly like that mango ice cream flavor that was popular a while back, so I enjoyed it a lot haha.

View of Jeonju Hanok Village visible from the seating area

Being able to eat while looking at a view like this feels like the biggest perk! Seriously, Jeonju Hanok Village is a view-spot wherever you go, so you can't really fail here~ It's the kind of place that automatically heals you and makes you zone out, you know that feeling ㅋㅋㅋ

Mild cheese and katsuobushi octopus skewers served first

How does the katsuobushi octopus skewer taste?

The 5,000 won katsuobushi octopus skewer tasted like takoyaki without the batter. First the mild cheese one and the katsuobushi one came out like this haha. They fire-sear it right away when making it, so I got to eat it warm and delicious!

The katsuobushi was genuinely more delicious than I expected?! It's basically eating just the octopus and sauce from takoyaki without the batter, and you know how good that tastes, right? ㅎㅎㅎ

The cheese octopus skewer and its huge pile of cheese

The 6,000 won cheese octopus skewer had a truly huge amount of cheese. Honestly, above all else, the cheese here has a totally over-the-top visual! Maybe because Imsil is nearby, they really pile on the cheese, and in the end all that was left was just cheese~

Cheese octopus skewer piled high with melted cheese

Salty octopus with a cool slushy — as a Hanok Village street food, it was springy, chewy, and delicious~ The octopus pieces were big in size too, and chewy just enough for my mom to eat comfortably, not tough at all!

Octopus skewer with large-cut octopus pieces

Seeing it like this, doesn't it really look like takoyaki? As I ate, I naturally started thinking about Buldak Bokkeum Myeon (spicy fire noodles)... I bet eating them together would actually be really good. Most people also seemed to be buying a lot of this katsuobushi octopus skewer and the cheese octopus skewer!

Cheese or katsuobushi: which octopus skewer to order?

At Munkkocchi Mungangjeong, I liked the katsuobushi octopus skewer better, while my family said the cheese octopus skewer was tastier. Even the octopus piece right at the very end of the skewer was bigger than expected, which was satisfying haha. I thought katsuobushi was the best, and my family said cheese was the best, so I'd just recommend picking based on your own taste~

Large octopus piece all the way to the end of the skewer

I had my sibling take photos that day, and the visuals came out looking pretty over-the-top haha. Jeonju is really famous for its food, isn't it? I enjoyed the octopus skewers here in Jeonju, and they seem great as a street snack in the Hanok Village haha.

Hands holding an octopus skewer and a slushy together

The combo of a cool slushy and octopus skewers was so good that if I go again, I think I'd get the exact same combo haha. If you're visiting Jeonju Hanok Village, I really hope you try the cheese octopus skewer~
