Shouting "I don't want to cook dinner this weekend~~" I ended up craving curry and went to Jogee Restaurant for the first time in a while!!! There were no reviews on Naver, so here's my honest one!!!!

How to find Jogee Restaurant in Namyang Market, Hwaseong

Jogee Restaurant is an Indian curry restaurant on the 2nd floor of an alley shopping complex in Namyang Market, Hwaseong. It was my first time at Namyang Market, and the atmosphere felt like it wasn't even Korea..? Honestly, I was a bit surprised!

Plus, if you plug in the address, 79 Namyangsijang-ro, you'll arrive at a shopping complex with an ad board inside the elevator... I have no idea what language that is. Anyway, throughout the alley and the whole building, there's more writing in some unidentifiable script than in Korean... so honestly it was a little scary too... But????? But!!!! This place is the real deal!!!!!! You have to push through the fear and come in. The real thing is hiding inside.

Once you get to the 2nd floor, there's Jogee Billiards and the restaurant!! Walk past the billiards hall and step into the restaurant, and right from the entrance the interior is so vivid and pretty!!! And you get local customers, kitchen, and servers you'd never see at A***ra or E***st!! Even though it was fairly early on a Sunday evening, the place was pretty packed!

Jogee Restaurant, a hidden gem and a truly local curry restaurant in Namyang Market. When we visited, the female servers spoke Korean more fluently than the male ones! The moment my daughter saw a female server with gorgeous henna on her hands, she said "She's a princess!" hahaha. She really did look just like the sparkly traditional princess paintings hanging on the walls haha. All the fear I felt on the way up completely disappeared haha.

There doesn't seem to be dedicated parking at the building, but there's a Namyang Market public parking lot nearby you can use.

We ordered two thali sets and, for the kids, cheese naan and mango lassi! And honestly!!!! This is a true hidden gem with actual local customers!!!!!!!!! After getting used to the curry flavor of A***ra and E***st all this time, this place shows you real, deeply authentic local curry flavor!!! Savory naan and spice-packed curry — I think it's been a while since I've had curry this delicious!

I thought the kids wouldn't like it because of the spice smell, but they happily dipped everything from the tandoori chicken to the warm, cheese-stretching naan into the curry! The thali set came with chicken masala and two other vegetable curries, though honestly I don't know the names of anything besides the chicken masala haha. But we really enjoyed eating it. If you live nearby, I really think this is a must-visit restaurant. This place is the real deal.

The servers were so kind that, while paying on the way out, I noticed an altar(?) in the back with really good incense and asked about it — they kindly let me take a photo!

Worth a trip if you miss heavily spiced curry

If you live in Korea and miss the flavor of spices from abroad, this is a place you'll be very, very satisfied with. The naan is next-level, and the curry and tandoori chicken are both fantastic! The set's dessert drink is chai tea latte, and it's also rich and savory in that same way, ugh, so good.

An exotic interior, customers playing instruments while everyone eats and drinks and listens, and that deep local curry flavor… Even two days later, my kids are still saying how good the cheese naan was.
