The weather was so nice this weekend and the kids kept begging to grill meat, so I suddenly planned a meat party!

I could've bought meat at a mart near home, but I'm pretty picky about meat quality, so I went to Jeongyuk Mart in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi, which is known for great quality meat. It's a butcher shop right near Yongmun Station, and today I'll share my visit — I was super satisfied. If you're planning a camping trip or a pension stay in Yangpyeong, pay attention!

How close is it to Yongmun Station? A grocery stop for Yangpyeong camping

Jeongyuk Mart in Yangpyeong is very close to Yongmun Station. Since it's right by the subway station, it's easy to stop by even if you're traveling by public transport. The sign itself has big words like 'bomb sale' and 'butchering day' written on it, so it catches your eye from far away. (I'm not the only one who gets excited just seeing the word 'sale,' right? 🤭)

It's within walking distance from Yongmun Station, so the accessibility is really good. They also offer free delivery near Yongmun, so if you're staying at a nearby pension or looking for a Yangpyeong meat shop, it might be worth using.

Jaw-dropping meat shopping (feat. a hanwoo showroom)

The refrigerated display case was so clean. The cuts looked so vivid and delicious haha, and there were so many different cuts you just don't see at a regular mart. I got decision paralysis and stood there deliberating for ages, but when I told the owner we were grilling for the kids, he kindly recommended cuts for us — really helpful :3

They said they debone the meat in-house and bring it in through auction, so it was fresh and reasonably priced too. There's clearly a reason this Yangpyeong butcher shop has such good word of mouth!

Home BBQ party with the hanwoo 1++ mixed set

We bought the hanwoo 1++ mixed set. When we bought the meat, they thoughtfully threw in scallion shreds and herb salt too. What a thoughtful owner! 👍

Now, finally, the meat time we'd been waiting for!!

Kkotdeungsim marbling — good even with just a dab of salt

Let's start with the kkotdeungsim (ribeye cap). Look at this marbling, everyone. Isn't it basically art? Wow~ the moment it hit the pan, this amazing smell filled the air — seriously incredible! Everyone was sitting there with chopsticks ready, just waiting for the meat to cook.

I dipped it lightly in just salt, and it melted in my mouth! The juices burst out and the savory flavor spread through my whole mouth. So tender and delicious. I'm super picky about meat but this was so good I just kept inhaling it.

It's also great with scallion shreds and garlic!!

Salchisal and chimasal — the kids cleared a whole bowl of rice too

The salchisal (chuck flap) and chimasal (skirt) were seriously, like, wow,,!!! The soju just kept flowing haha. The kids devoured a whole bowl of rice once I cut the meat up for them — such a happy meat party.

Thanks to the owner's recommended thickness, the texture was perfect too! Zero greasiness, just packed with savory flavor — that's hanwoo 1++ (highest grade) for you!!! We ended up finishing off every last bit of the meat we bought. This place's meat is truly the best. Seriously, highly highly recommend!!!
