Same-day lens replacement and parking at Namdaemun Market: 007 Optical

I visited 007 Optical, located near Hoehyeon Station in Namdaemun Market! I'd been wanting to swap out the lenses in my existing glasses for a while, and happened to be passing by, so I stopped in. Namdaemun is famous as an eyewear wholesale district too, so I'd been curious to check it out at some point.

Store size and frame selection

What surprised me the moment I walked in was just how many glasses they had. Frames covered the walls, there was a separate sunglasses corner, and they carried a wide variety of brands. It was genuinely fun just browsing display after display, haha. Since it was the weekend, there were tons of families with kids getting glasses fitted too. Taking advantage of the Namdaemun wholesale market's strength — reasonable prices across a huge range of brands — was definitely the appeal here.

How they do the eye exam

I looked it up and found the head optician has 30 years of experience. They've got the latest exam equipment too — an eye profiler, Visufit, and Zeiss i.Terminal — for a precise check of your eye condition. They apparently do a 3D analysis of refractive errors and corneal condition, and fit lens position considering your face shape and wearing habits, so it was quite thorough. They say they also systematically check for double vision or binocular vision issues, which made the place feel less like a shop that just sells glasses and more like somewhere that cares for your actual eye health.

Lens-only replacement, same day

I went in to just replace the lenses in my existing frames, and they got it done the same day, which was so convenient. There were several lens options to choose from too, and I got recommendations tailored to my prescription and lifestyle. The wait wasn't long, and the staff explained everything kindly, which I really appreciated.

And when it came time to pay, they accept Onnuri gift certificates too! Very fitting for a Namdaemun Market shop that this was covered. For anyone who uses traditional market gift certificates, this is a nice bonus point.

I looked it up and found this was actually a place visited on the YouTube channel <Sunpung Sunwoo Yong-nyeo>, with comedian Yoo Se-yoon. Apparently they visited without any ads or sponsorship, which suggests the place is genuinely well-regarded.

There were so many frame options that I'm now considering getting a whole new pair of frames next time. The store is big and the consultation was so kind that I think I'll be back. It's rare to find a place with this much scale in both lenses and frames, so I'd especially recommend it to anyone getting new glasses. Personally, the thing I was most satisfied with was that parking is available. Finding a place to park around Namdaemun or Myeongdong is basically impossible.. Every time I go to this area I stress out over parking, so this one point alone made visiting feel a lot less of a hassle. If you're driving, definitely keep this in mind!
