Siheung Korean restaurant for spicy chicken stew: Jeongjeong-a Sikdang
In short
Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch is a Korean restaurant in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, Gyeonggi, serving dakbokkeumtang and boiled squid. On a return visit, I ordered level 2 dakbokkeumtang with glass noodles and loved the generous portion, taste, and price. Verdict: A great spot for spicy broth with both rice and drinks.

Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch hours
They are regularly closed on Sundays, and open until 10 PM every other day. It is a Jeongwang-dong restaurant you can comfortably visit anytime. Why do I recommend it? Let me tell you!

A return visit for dakbokkeumtang in Jeongwang-dong
This was a return visit to Jeongjeong-a Sikdang. It turns out it is a truly great Jeongwang-dong spot that lots of my coworkers know, too.

Prices by group size and spice levels
- 2 people: ₩24,000
- 3 people: ₩29,000
- 4 people: ₩34,000
- Spice levels: 1–3
I always get level 2. I think even people who cannot handle much spice would be okay with level 2. It has to have a bit of a spicy kick to taste good, you know ~~

Glass noodles are a must-add
We added glass noodles, and please, make them a must-add. Glass noodles completely soaked in that sauce... the best.

It looks like it calls for drinks, but I usually go there for a meal. Most people seem to drink, though. Next time, I want to visit for a work dinner or gathering and have drinks. The broth is absolutely made for drinking.
Everything except the glass noodles comes thoroughly cooked, so you can practically start eating as soon as it arrives.
The chicken pieces seem a little small, but the portion is huge... It made me think I would rather have Jeongjeong-a's dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken stew) than fried chicken.

You can add potatoes too, but the potatoes that come with it were enough for me.

Even on another visit, I think I would get level 2 with extra glass noodles. It is a great restaurant that has the portion, taste, and price all covered~~~ If you are craving dakbokkeumtang, I totally recommend stopping by.

Boiled squid as a side dish
They sell boiled squid, cockle bibimbap, and more. I found the boiled squid delicious and great value, so if you are debating a side dish, I really want to recommend trying it.

It comes in easy one-bite pieces, and it is good dipped in wasabi and chojang (sweet-and-tangy red chili sauce).

The whole menu is totally made for drinks, right? Haha. I think it is great that you can enjoy rice and drinks at the same time.

The staff were kind too, so I enjoyed my meal in a good mood. I might try taking it out next time ~~ I think picking it up here is much more reasonable than ordering delivery.
