Sunday 7pm walk-in gyukatsu dinner at Seoul Station: Ichigyu steki set
In short
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a grill-your-own gyukatsu (fried beef cutlet) Japanese restaurant on B1 of the LG Seoul Station Building, about 101m from Seoul Station exit 10 in Jung-gu, Seoul. Arriving on a Sunday at 7pm meant no wait at all, and the gyukatsu set and the sirloin steki set came to 19,500 won each, with Isigny butter melted on the personal brazier set on every table. The steki set was the softer, more memorable of the two, making Ichigyu a solid dinner stop before or after a train.

Seoul Station's lunch pick, gyukatsu (fried beef cutlet) — Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch.

If you're ever craving a good lunch or dinner near Seoul Station, here's a spot worth trying.
Gyukatsu is something I only think of once in a while because I remember loving it in Japan, and Ichigyu happens to be close enough to Seoul Station to make it a good stop before catching a train.
Where Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is and when it opens
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is at B1, B116, 98 Huam-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, about 101m from Seoul Station exit 10 (toward the LG Seoul Station Building). Hours are 11:00–21:30 with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, and you can register on the Catch Table waitlist right in front of the store.

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is about 101m from Seoul Station exit 10. Walk into the LG Seoul Station Building and head down to B1, where a cluster of restaurants awaits. It's a convenient spot for nearby office workers to grab lunch or dinner too.

Right from the entrance, it felt like a small local restaurant straight out of Japan.

How long is the wait on a Sunday at 7pm?
There's a Catch Table waitlist kiosk set up in front. On my Sunday 7pm visit, there were zero parties waiting — good to know if you're planning a trip!

Inside, there are wood-toned tables and chairs, and every table has its own personal brazier so you can grill the gyukatsu yourself.

Grilling gyukatsu on the brazier: 7 to 8 seconds a side
Rather than piling on several pieces at once, grilling just one or two at a time meant you could enjoy them warm before they cooled.

The table sign recommended grilling for about 7–8 seconds. It seemed best to keep an eye on the meat as you go.

Sirloin steki set, 19,500 won — softer than the gyukatsu
Sirloin steki set, ₩19,500. This was actually my friend's order, but I ended up liking it more, haha. I basically stole the whole thing from her, hahaha ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ*) ♡
Where the gyukatsu is a bit firmer with that fried texture, this one was softer and melted in the mouth. The cabbage salad served alongside was great to mix in between bites of meat.

Gyukatsu set, 19,500 won, and its four sauces
Gyukatsu set, ₩19,500. The signature dish! Next to the cabbage is Ichigyu's special sauce. Above that are chili sauce, salt, wasabi, and butter.
The special sauce added a nice savory depth to the meat, and pairing it with wasabi made for a cleaner bite. Just a touch of salt was also great for tasting the beef's natural flavor on its own. Definitely worth trying every combination :)

Rice comes out enough for two so you can portion it out yourselves, served into individual small plates.
It tasted better slightly undercooked rather than fully grilled all the way through.

The kick at Ichigyu: Isigny butter
Honestly, this butter was the game-changer....

Melting the Isigny butter on the brazier added a rich, nutty flavor that made everything even more delicious 🤎

It was great with salt, and great with wasabi too. I love a sharp wasabi kick, so I piled it on generously.
