Samseong-dong octopus bossam for three with extra somyeon: Obongjip
In short
Obongjip Samseong Branch is an octopus bossam restaurant in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, a 3-4 minute walk from Samseong Jungang Station Exit 5. Three of us ordered the Obongjip Special with an extra serving of somyeon (thin wheat noodles) and left a little behind, because the portions were that generous — plump octopus, tender bossam (boiled pork), and makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) as good as a specialty shop's. Obongjip Samseong Branch is worth recommending when a group near Samseong Station or COEX wants a spicy, filling Korean meal.

Hey everyone, it's Meoksangmu. Today I've got a deep-dive review of Obongjip Samseong Branch, straight and hot off the press. This place is seriously up there in the Samseong-dong restaurant rankings!

A lot of you near Samseong Station or COEX probably get cravings for octopus 🙋♂️ When you want something spicy, and you want bossam (boiled pork wrap) on the side too, the place that comes to mind is Obongjip Samseong Branch. Let's get straight to the main photos!!! Save this one, Samseong Station foodies!

Where is Obongjip Samseong Branch, and how far from Samseong Jungang Station?
Obongjip Samseong Branch is only a 3-4 minute walk from Samseong Jungang Station Exit 5, so accessibility is really great 🚶♂️
It's a perfect spot for office workers meeting for lunch, or for grabbing a casual bottle of soju with friends in the evening.

Obongjip Special plus somyeon for three: is it enough food?
This time I went with two friends, three of us in total, and there was no need to even think about the menu — we went straight for the Obongjip Special with extra somyeon (noodles) 🍜

But wow, the moment it arrived we were shocked by the portion size 😳 Even with three of us eating, we couldn't finish it and had to leave just a little behind — the value for money is genuinely undeniable 👍 Even a bigger group wouldn't run short, so I'd strongly recommend this for group gatherings or work dinners. Here's the basic table setting!
What side dishes come with the Obongjip Special?
Let's start with the banchan (side dishes) at Obongjip Samseong Branch! Don't sleep on these either — the kimchi and every basic side dish felt carefully made, honestly just as good as the main dishes 🥢 For a COEX-area restaurant, this level of quality is... wow.

How spicy is the octopus, and how is the texture?
Now let's talk about the main dish 😋 The octopus condition alone is insane — plump and full of life,
with that bouncy, springy texture coming through with every bite. The spicy sauce wasn't overwhelming but hit just the right level of heat, the kind of spice that keeps your chopsticks moving 🌶️

Eating the bossam pork and octopus together
You can't skip the bossam (boiled pork wrap) either — its tender texture balances perfectly with the octopus's spiciness,

and wrapping a bite of spicy octopus in the bossam is an absolutely magical combination 🥬🥩 It tames the heat while still keeping you reaching for more — that addictive pairing.
And the side banchan (side dishes) that quietly show up shouldn't be overlooked either. Starting with the kimchi, everything is genuinely excellent.
Makguksu noodles and the extra somyeon
And it doesn't stop there — the makguksu (buckwheat noodles) tasted exactly like something from a specialty noodle shop. We added extra somyeon (thin wheat noodles) on top,

and the noodles had a nutty flavor with real depth of savoriness. The problem was, again, the portion — the extra noodles alone were enough to fill us up 😆
To sum it all up: plump octopus with just the right spice, tender bossam, excellent side dishes, plus specialty-shop-level noodles — a perfect combination, and with such generous portions, I can confidently call this a top-tier value-for-money restaurant 💯 Can't forget to show off the noodle photo too!
Who is Obongjip Samseong Branch best for?
If you're looking for a great octopus bossam restaurant near Samseong Station or COEX, and you want a meal that's spicy but still filling, I absolutely recommend Obongjip Samseong Branch 🙌 Going with a group and taking on the Obongjip Special together is highly recommended too.
