I recently visited Slow But Barrel Daegu, a big café in Dong-gu, Daegu, and I liked it so much that I had to share it haha. The space is wide, comfortable and open, so it was great for spending a relaxed afternoon, and the coffee and desserts were better than I expected, so it was a really satisfying visit :)
What are the opening hours and parking at Slow But Barrel Daegu?
Slow But Barrel Daegu is open every day from 10:30 to 22:00, with last order at 21:30. There is a large parking lot in front of the café.

The entrance was so lush and green, it was beautiful from the very start. Everywhere you look is decorated like a photo zone, and with the lovely weather it felt really healing.

The lot at Slow But Barrel Daegu holds about 80 cars at once, so you don't need to worry about parking!!

What is the interior of this large Dong-gu café like?
Slow But Barrel Daegu is quite big, with plenty of seating and corners decorated like photo zones. Families, friends and couples were all spending a relaxed time there.

How is the bread made at Slow But Barrel?
For the best bread flavor, Slow But Barrel bakes and sells everything on the same day, 100%. Veteran bakers with over 20 years of experience and their team handle every step themselves, from preparing ingredients to measuring, mixing, fermenting and baking. They reportedly use no margarine, only top ingredients such as French Elle & Vire organic gourmet butter.

The café's own cherry farm and cherry picking
Slow But Barrel runs its own cherry farm. Cherry-picking experiences and pop-up events run from mid-May to the end of June every year, so if you're curious, check Slow But Barrel's Instagram!

This time I ordered the apricot ice cream, a caramel latte, a Ringer chocolate madeleine and the cherry bottle cake.

Is Slow But Barrel Daegu pet-friendly?
Slow But Barrel Daegu has a separate pet-friendly terrace and indoor area. Only vaccinated pets are allowed, and owners need to be considerate, I think!

This is the outdoor terrace. On a nice, cool day, eating out here would be wonderful.

The outdoor view from the pet zone was healing in itself…🫶🏻

How do you eat the Ringer chocolate madeleine?
The Ringer chocolate madeleine is a moist chocolate madeleine coated in rich dark chocolate, and you pour the homemade syrup from the IV-style Ringer bag over it. When it arrived the colors were so pretty🤍, and it caught my eye right away. The way you eat it was special, and the deep chocolate flavor and sweetness went really well with coffee haha

What does the cherry bottle cake (₩7,500) taste like?
The most memorable dessert at Slow But Barrel was the cherry bottle cake (₩7,500)!! It was generously filled with cherries harvested at the café's own cherry farm. Sweet cream and tangy cherries went together so well that I enjoyed it to the last bite without getting tired of it.

Apricot ice cream and caramel latte
The apricot ice cream is a homemade drink made with apricots grown at a farm run by the owner's father, they say. The fresh tang and sweetness of the apricot came through strongly, which was impressive, and the fresh fruit flavor was alive, so I enjoyed it so much haha

The caramel latte (₩6,700) had sweet caramel flavor over soft cream, with a charming hint of cinnamon. The sweetness and coffee aroma balanced nicely, making it an easy-to-drink signature menu item. If you usually like sweet coffee, you'll probably love it.

How was Slow But Barrel, a large pet-friendly café in Daegu?
Slow But Barrel has not only drinks and desserts but also a wide variety of baked goods, and I loved that I could feel the care and freshness in the ingredients. The wide, comfortable space makes it great to visit with family, a partner or friends, and perfect for a relaxed time!
