I wanted raw fish in Seosan, so I went to the newly opened Seosan Jonghap Eosijang (서산종합어시장). It grand-opened on September 17, so this is a brand-new, still-warm Seosan sashimi restaurant. Worth checking out if you like seafood.
Where is Seosan Jonghap Eosijang in Yecheon-dong, and is parking free?

It's located on Nambusunhwan-ro in Yecheon-dong, Seosan. There's a big blue Seosan Jonghap Eosijang sign that's easy to spot from far away.
Best of all, the parking lot is huge. There's a dedicated lot next to the building that's free to use. They said they're planning to set up an outdoor seating area (yajang) at the end of the lot too 👍 A plate of sashimi and a drink outside on a cool evening sounds like a pretty great vibe. I plan to come back soon.

Since it just opened, there were still wreaths everywhere. I heard there's even a wait in the evenings, but I visited around 5 pm so I got in fairly easily.
Inside Seosan Jonghap Eosijang: can it handle big groups?

Walking inside, the place is surprisingly spacious. Overall it had a bright, clean atmosphere, and the tables weren't cramped together.

It looked good for family meals as well as company dinners or group gatherings. They can seat up to 100 people, and group reservations and venue rentals are available.

The menu and photos are posted large on the wall, so it's easy to pick something even on your first visit. There's a wide range of sashimi — flounder, rockfish, mixed platters, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), live squid, dotari, sea bass — plus plenty of meal options.

For lunch they also serve seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), spicy seafood kalguksu, and sashimi rice bowls, so it's worth a visit as a Seosan lunch spot too.
The restrooms are conveniently located inside the restaurant.
Side dishes and the self-serve bar: tteokbokki and fried fish cutlets
At Seosan Jonghap Eosijang, once you sit down, seaweed soup, salad, and basic side dishes come out first. The side dish lineup isn't huge, but the warm seaweed soup was surprisingly good. And here's the thing you really have to see — the self-serve bar!!

Because they had tteokbokki and fried fish cutlets set out there — oho~

The fish cutlets were warm and crispy, better than I expected, and I only grabbed a little tteokbokki at first just to taste it — but it was so good I immediately went back for more haha.

Seriously so good!!! Even my husband, who's not that into tteokbokki, ate several pieces and said it was tasty haha.

The self-serve bar also has lettuce for wraps, garlic, kimchi, and macaroni salad, so you can help yourself to as much as you want if anything runs low.
Every table came neatly set with soy sauce and chogochujang (vinegared chili sauce), small plates, and utensils, so it was easy to use.
The large rockfish sashimi platter, plate by plate

Finally, the rockfish sashimi I ordered showed up!! A big plate arrived packed full of rockfish slices. One plate was pretty generous.
The flesh had a nice sheen and just the right thickness. The chewy, firm texture that rockfish is known for really came through, and the more I chewed, the cleaner it tasted — I kept reaching for more.

Even dipped lightly in soy sauce it tasted clean, and with chogochujang it was a totally different flavor. Personally, I'm picking ssamjang (thick soybean-chili paste) as the fantastic choice!

I piled rockfish sashimi onto lettuce and perilla leaves, added ssamjang and garlic, and took one big bite. Sashimi wrapped like this is a whole other pleasure you can't skip. Since you can grab extra lettuce or garlic from the self-serve bar, it was easy to eat plenty without feeling shy about it.

After the meal, there's even a coffee vending machine near the entrance, so you can finish off with a cup of coffee.

Who is Seosan Jonghap Eosijang best for?
This newly opened Seosan sashimi restaurant, Seosan Jonghap Eosijang, had spacious parking, a comfortable interior, and a generous portion of rockfish sashimi — I left satisfied. Another plus is the range of menu options beyond raw fish, including seafood kalguksu, mulhoe, sashimi rice bowls, and fried dishes.

The self-serve bar with tteokbokki and fried fish cutlets was especially memorable. It seems like a solid choice for a family sashimi outing or a group dinner and gathering spot. Once the outdoor seating is finished, I'd love to come back again on a cool day.
