Grilled pork bone couple set in Seosan: Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui

In short

Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch is a Korean restaurant in Yecheon-dong, Seosan, Chungnam, specializing in ppyeo-gui (grilled pork bone) and gamjatang (pork bone stew). Two of us shared the ppyeo-gui couple set at 44,800 won, which came with flying fish roe rice balls and steamed egg, and the bones were huge with meat tender enough to slide off with chopsticks. Piling sauce and meat onto a rice ball was the best bite of the meal, making Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui an easy recommendation for anyone who loves grilled pork bone.

Ppyeo-gui couple set with rice ball and steamed egg

Getting steamed egg, rice balls, and ppyeo-gui all together felt like great value.

A full spread just right for two people

The warm rice balls came out first! I chose flying fish roe over tuna mayo. It's hidden under a mountain of seaweed flakes, but there's really a ton of flying fish roe inside. Nutty mayo plus flying fish roe and seaweed flakes — a common combo, but one you just can't do without ♡

Eating rice balls together with ppyeo-gui should be written into law.

Soft steamed egg with a hint of sesame oil aroma

And this place turns out to be great for steamed egg too?! It's drizzled generously with sesame oil, and that fragrance was the killer touch. Seasoning wasn't too bland or too salty, the sesame oil aroma came through fully, and it was so soft and delicious.

How big are the bones and how tender is the meat?

The ppyeo-gui at Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch comes stacked like a tower of bones. The bones are genuinely huge and substantial, loaded with meat, and so tender it fell off with just a touch of chopsticks.

Here comes the ppyeo-gui ‧₊˚♥︎彡 I was shocked by the visual. They really stacked a tower of bones?!

But how thoughtful — they gave us gloves too? Ppyeo-gui is all about eating with your hands. Gloves on, time to dig in for real.

Glistening ppyeo-gui picked up with gloves

Look at that shine..♡ I grabbed a solid bone but was surprised there were even bigger ones lol.

A bone too big to fit in the bowl

It was genuinely so big the bowl couldn't even hold it.

Meat pulled tender and easy from the bone

The meat falls off so easily ..♡ See how much pure lean meat there is?!

The tastiest way to eat the grilled pork bone

At Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch, the best combo was putting sauce on the rice ball and piling on a ton of meat. The meat is delicious plain too, or with white kimchi on top, or paired with rice cakes soaked in the sauce.

The meat is delicious just as it is.

Ppyeo-gui meat tasty even eaten plain

Topped with white kimchi is really tasty too ♡

The rice cakes soaked in sauce that come along the way are a nice touch too. But let me tell you the actual best way to eat it.

Rice cakes soaked in sauce alongside ppyeo-gui sauce

First put sauce on the rice ball, then pile on a ton of meat and eat it that way.. seriously legendary, insanely delicious ⋆·˚ ༘ * Even if you order the ppyeo-gui à la carte, the rice ball is an absolute must.

To finish, the sesame-oil-scented steamed egg ‧₊˚♥︎彡

Post-meal dessert of coffee and candy

A thoughtful dessert made it all perfect ☕️🍬
