In short

Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch is a Korean restaurant in Seosan, Chungnam, serving gamjatang and grilled king bones. We ordered the regular-spice mini gamjatang for weekend lunch, and its generous portion, tender meat, and rich pork-bone broth satisfied us. A hearty, refreshing bowl worth returning for.

Seosan gamjatang for a weekend lunch

We visited Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch (불탄왕뼈구이 예천중흥점), one of our favorite Seosan spots for gamjatang (pork-bone soup) and wang ppyeo gui (grilled king bones), for a weekend lunch out with my husband. This is one of the truly delicious restaurants we visit often for Seosan gamjatang and grilled king bones. With dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available, it is hugely popular—and a place I definitely recommend trying if you are looking for a Korean restaurant in Seosan. :)

Spacious dining hall

A spacious dining hall for groups, too

Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch has a spacious dining hall, so it is also a popular Seosan destination for group meals and company dinners. The large, pleasant space makes for a comfortable meal whenever you visit. Reservations are available, so I recommend booking ahead for a group visit.

Bultan grilled bone spice-level guide

How many spice levels does Bultan grilled bone have?

The signature Bultan grilled bones come in five spice levels, from non-spicy to a heat level that could send you into the afterlife. We have only ever had level 2, described as Shin Ramyun-level spice, but someday I really want to take on level 5..!

Regular-spice mini gamjatang, just right for two

There are all kinds of dishes here, including gamjatang, ppeo haejangguk (pork-bone hangover soup), and grilled king bones. There are solo portions too, making it easy to stop by for lunch or dinner alone in Seosan. Since we have tried the Bultan grilled bones every time before, we ordered the mini gamjatang this time. It was exactly the right size for the two of us. You can choose the spice level for gamjatang as well, but we picked the most standard regular spice. If you want a spicy, warming kick, I recommend the hot option!

Side dishes and our order

The basic side dishes are simple—baekkimchi (white kimchi), cabbage salad, and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi)—but the cabbage salad is the star. Especially with the spicy grilled bones, it cools down the heat while bringing out the vegetables' sweet flavor.

Gamjatang comes in mini, medium, and large sizes, but I think the mini is more than enough for two people. The broth looked nicely spicy and came topped with plenty of perilla seed powder, giving it a wonderful nutty flavor! A generous mound of ugeoji (dried napa cabbage greens) added another lovely touch. For a mini size, it had an unbelievably abundant, impressive look, piled high with green onions and mushrooms too.

Deep pork-bone broth and tender meat

The longer it simmered, the more deeply flavored the pork-bone broth became, with a rich taste that seemed to completely soothe my insides. The meat slipped gently away from the bones with just a touch of the chopsticks, making it so easy to eat. There were plenty of thick, meaty bones too, which made it feel even more generous.

The mini gamjatang at this Seosan favorite is made with meat simmered for a long time until wonderfully tender. The soft, moist meat practically melts in your mouth. The nutty, savory broth is so addictive that I kept reaching for another bite. It honestly feels like an instant hangover cure!

The clean, odor-free meat flavor paired perfectly with the nutty, savory broth. Tear apart the deeply seasoned ugeoji and wrap it around the meat for the ultimate bite. Even the fluffy, perfectly cooked potatoes were flawless in Bultan Wang Ppyeo Gui Yecheon Junghung Branch's gamjatang! I can see why it is called a great gamjatang spot in Seosan.
