With my mom's birthday coming up, I decided to get her flowers. I'm not someone who buys flowers often, but I'd used a place in Byeongjeom/Dongtan known for its skill a few times before, paying out of my own pocket, so I went back to that Byeongjeom flower shop, Jeongjik Farm Flower (정직팜플라워), again this time.

Turns out the bouquet from the drama 'Our Beloved Summer,' which I loved, was also made at Jeongjik Farm Flower — that made me even happier to be there.

Jeongjik Farm Flower is a flower shop located at 1F, 31-12 Byeongjeom-3-ro, Byeongjeom-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and they say they deliver not just within Byeongjeom but also to Dongtan, Bongdam, Jeongnam, Sema, Osan, and Suwon.

Coming from the Biden or Byeongjeom-dang intersection, turn in on the right side of Joeun Real Estate and it's right there.

Not many flower shops have parking, and I've had awkward moments before trying to pick up flowers by car, but Jeongjik Farm Flower has a parking space right in front.

How does a 24-hour unstaffed flower shop actually work? At first I thought everything from entry to purchase would be complicated since it's an unmanned store, but it turned out simpler than I expected. Just tap a credit card, Samsung Pay, or Apple Pay on the reader to the left of the entrance and the door opens! (When leaving, press the 'Push (EXIT)' button to exit.)

I visited on a weekday afternoon, and it seemed like someone is usually there on weekdays. (Sundays are unstaffed.) The fact that it also runs 24 hours unmanned was especially convenient — you can buy flowers even late at night.

It was nice not having to ask a staff member about every single item — I could just check the price tags right away. There were plenty of pre-made items too, not just custom orders, with a wide range of prices, so it was easy to pick according to purpose and budget. And I liked that the prices were surprisingly reasonable.

If fresh flowers feel like too much, they also have plenty of preserved flowers — worth noting!

Walking into the shop, there was a wide variety of flowers ready, which made choosing fun. It wasn't just one or two types on display — there were flowers of different colors and sizes, so it was easy to pick anything from a small bouquet to a full, lush one depending on the purpose.

I wondered whether the flowers would really be fresh at an unstaffed shop, but what surprised me most when I actually looked closely was the freshness. There wasn't a single flower with drooping petals or a limp, bent stem — overall they looked very lively, and the stems seemed relatively thick too.

I'm the type who picks flowers based on their meaning, and there was a sign explaining flower meanings right in front of the flower fridge, which made it easy to shop with that in mind. Such a thoughtful touch..!

How to pay at Jeongjik Farm Flower with no staff on site

The payment method is also explained in the store, so you just have to follow the steps in order.

How to buy a bouquet:

• Take your chosen bouquet out of the water bucket.
• Cut the stem ends with scissors.
• Wipe off the moisture with a towel.
• Pay the amount at the mini kiosk next to the entrance.

At first I worried that not being able to ask staff directly, since it's unstaffed, might be an issue, but in practice everything I needed was explained right there in the store, so I don't think I'd get lost.

Oh, and writing a Naver review takes about 3 seconds at the mini kiosk on the right, and if you do, they give you a free mini bouquet!

How to handle the bouquet in water:

• Put one sheet of kitchen paper towel into a cup.
• Pour in enough water to soak the paper towel thoroughly.
• Holding the whole wrapped bouquet with the cut end down, place it into the cup.
• Carry it home properly in the provided bag or one you bought.

I had reserved in advance and visited while the owner was there, so she took care of everything and I didn't need to do it myself, but it doesn't seem hard to do even when visiting during unstaffed hours.

Since I don't know much about flowers, before ordering I wondered, 'Will I really be able to convey the feeling I want?' But sure enough, the touch of a florist with 19 years of experience handling flowers made a difference.

Not knowing much about flowers, I struggled over what kind to pick for my mom's birthday. So I asked her to put together something pretty in yellow tones, and as a result I got a flower basket built mostly around yellow flowers.

The owner finished it off with a yellow ribbon as an accent, which gave it an even more adorable feel.
