Kid-friendly Korean BBQ near Bangi Station: Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch

In short

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a lamb and pork BBQ restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Bangi Station in Songpa, Seoul. Dining with a five-year-old, the writer ordered lamb ribs, silk mango pork neck, kkodeulsal (chewy pork cut) and a mild, non-spicy soybean-paste mulberry-leaf tteollaegi sujebi (hand-torn dough soup), and the child ate the lamb ribs and mango pork neck best of all. With parking, valet service and a sink right at the entrance, Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch made eating out with a child easy.

We went to Lotte Department Store in Jamsil to buy my husband some clothes, and while we were figuring out dinner, Jane said she wanted meat ღ

My husband mentioned there was a BBQ restaurant near Jamsil that had been on the show Wednesday Food Talk, so we looked it up and ended up at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, a Bangi Station BBQ restaurant. They serve everything from lamb to pork to specialty cuts, so it was fun just picking the menu.

We ended up ordering generously — kkodeulsal (chewy pork cartilage cut) that my husband insisted we had to try, mango-shaped scored pork neck, lamb ribs, and mulberry-leaf sujebi. Here's our review of Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station 😊

How to get to Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, and is there parking and valet?

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Bangi Station. Since we had our kid with us, we drove, and the parking lot was fairly spacious with valet service too, so parking was easy. (Parking or valet fee: ₩2,000.)

Once we walked in, the place was bigger than I expected. Being dinnertime, there were quite a few people eating already. The tables had generous spacing, and there was a separate group room too, so it seemed good not just for family dinners but for gatherings and work dinners as well.

We saw couples on dates as well as families with kids, like us.

There was a sink at the entrance for washing hands. Eating out with a kid means a lot of hand-washing before and after meals, so having one right there was surprisingly convenient. If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station that's comfortable for a family meal, this is a detail worth noting :)

We ordered lamb ribs, silk mango pork neck, kkodeulsal, and rice, then added mulberry-leaf sujebi while eating.

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch apparently serves beef, lamb, pork, and even chicken feet — it's not a one-meat-only place, so you can choose according to your taste, which I liked. The side dishes were pickled onions, radish wraps, shredded radish, pickled perilla leaves, wasabi, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), lettuce, salt, chili soy sauce, and salted fermented anchovy.

The shredded radish that came with it was delicious — it went surprisingly well with the meat, and I kept reaching for it.

There was a self-serve bar too, so we could grab more of whatever side dish we needed. Jane liked the shredded radish so much she went and refilled it herself. Soon after, the charcoal came out.

On one side there were tips for grilling the meat better, so I read through them while we waited. They also said they give out a highball if you leave a Naver review, so give that a try.

The lamb ribs a five-year-old ate the most of

The first thing we grilled at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch was the lamb ribs. They're made from Australian shoulder rack, and once we put them on the charcoal, a really good smell started drifting up.

I worried Jane might not eat the lamb ribs, but she surprisingly ate them really well. The meat was tender with no gamey smell, so it worked fine for a kid too. Dipped in the sauce that came with it, the lamb's distinctive flavor paired nicely with the sauce.

Most of all, I was proud that Jane said it was delicious and kept eating ・ᴗ・ If you like lamb, it's worth checking out the lamb rib option when you're looking into BBQ restaurants near Bangi Station.

Silk mango pork neck: soft, mild and nutty

The menu I was curious about was the silk mango pork neck. It's scored into a mango shape, which caught my eye and looked pretty :) It's domestic pork neck scored into that mango pattern before cooking.

Grilled golden on the pan, this was my favorite of everything we ate :) If kkodeulsal is chewy, the mango pork neck was softer and more nutty.

Because of the scoring, it was also easy to eat, and I heard it's a menu kids often go for — Jane ate it well too. If you're visiting a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station with a kid, this one's worth ordering.

Kkodeulsal, the cut that made Dangsan Odol famous on Wednesday Food Talk

Next was kkodeulsal, which my husband really wanted to try. It was apparently featured on the show Wednesday Food Talk before, and I was curious — it's a specialty cut that only yields about 400g per pig, so the meat itself was fairly thick. Grilled golden over high heat, it had a chewy texture that got better the more you chewed.

Dipped in the salted fermented anchovy sauce especially, the salty note brought out the meat's clean flavor even more. The texture was clearly different from the mango pork neck, so I was glad we ordered both. If you like meat, kkodeulsal is worth trying when you're hunting for specialty cuts at a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station.

Mild soybean-paste mulberry-leaf tteollaegi sujebi a child can eat

While eating, we heard the sujebi was good too, so we added the mulberry-leaf sujebi. There's a spicy version, but we ordered the basic soybean paste flavor so Jane could eat it with us.

It's dough mixed with mulberry-leaf powder, hand-torn and boiled in a broth full of dried shrimp along with various vegetables. With young cabbage, zucchini, potato, mushrooms, and more, it worked well alongside the grilled meat.

The broth was savory but not overpowering, so I actually liked eating it between bites of meat. Since it wasn't spicy, Jane ate the sujebi and potatoes well too. If you're visiting a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station with a kid, it's worth adding a food menu item rather than just ordering meat.

We were pretty full so we couldn't order it this time, but next time I want to try the thick pork skin too — it's scored on the inside and aged in seasoning, and I'm curious how it tastes. This time, between the lamb ribs, mango pork neck, kkodeulsal, and sujebi, we were too full to eat more, which was a bit of a shame. Next visit, I'll be sure to try the pork skin.

Why Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch works with a child

What I liked most about visiting Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch with Jane this time was being able to eat so many different kinds of meat in one place. There were kid-friendly options like the lamb ribs, the soft mango pork neck, and a food menu like the sujebi, which made choosing easy.

More than anything, the spacious dining room, the group room, and the parking and valet made it seem like a good pick for family dinners or gatherings. If you're visiting with a kid like I did, I'd recommend ordering the lamb ribs, mango pork neck, and mulberry-leaf sujebi together.

If you're near Bangi Station looking for a meat spot that also has good food-menu options, Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is worth considering. We're planning to go back to try the thick pork skin we missed this time 🤍 After the meal, we walked over to Seokchon Lake to help digest and then headed home ・ᴗ・
