Geomdan tonkatsu restaurant with a three-cutlet platter: HOKATSU

In short

HOKATSU is a Japanese restaurant in Geomdan, Incheon, serving tonkatsu, ramen, and set meals. We added two loin cutlets to the popular three-cutlet platter, while the kids especially loved the stretchy cheese cutlet. Verdict: a great pick when you are craving crisp, juicy tonkatsu fried to order.

Visiting HOKATSU in Geomdan: waiting and parking

I visited HOKATSU, a Geomdan favorite, for tonkatsu (Japanese breaded pork cutlet)! You can make a Catchtable reservation now too, haha. When the weather is nice and the restaurant is full, people even eat on the outdoor chairs right out front~~ It is open from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, but keep the break time in mind. You can park in the Megabox building garage. There has always been a space when I visited, although the garage only has one level! Still, it is spacious, so I have never failed to find parking.

HOKATSU, a Geomdan favorite, even had signatures on the wall! Since kids love tonkatsu, they also offer takeout.

In 2026, HOKATSU was selected by Blue Ribbon as Ilsin Donkaseu! A recommended place, haha. I am so happy that a restaurant I visit often received a Blue Ribbon designation. HOKATSU is exactly my style of tonkatsu place. Recognized as a great restaurant, just as a Blue Ribbon spot should be!!

Homemade yogurt for each guest and the self-service bar

This is homemade yogurt, and they give one to each person. It is a HOKATSU Geomdan tonkatsu-house service, haha. The yogurt is made for dry-aging meat. They say they use Grade 1 milk and take 24 hours to make yogurt suited to aging meat. That is why it was even smoother. The yogurt cultures break down the meat proteins, making the meat more tender while bringing out richer juices and a clean flavor! The kids said it was so delicious ^^ You can order more too. It is available for ₩1,000!

The basic side dishes come with the meal, and any extra side dishes are self-service. You need to pick up the kids' Pororo tableware, forks, and spoons separately from the self-service bar! One disappointing thing is that the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) is gone ㅠㅠ HOKATSU's kkakdugi was delicious..!! There is salad at the self-service bar too, so it is nice for getting more.

Basic sauce and salt are set out on the table! HOKATSU has not only tonkatsu but also a variety of options including ramen and set meals. They even have a gyukatsu-style menu that you can grill on a small brazier.

Two loin cutlets (₩4,500). The kids had already eaten, so I ordered it as a side because I was worried there would not be enough, and they gave us more cheese cutlet too! It ended up being just the right amount, haha. The coating is not thick, so it does not feel greasy! The pieces are thick, with plenty of meat.

Popular three-cutlet platter (₩18,000). It came with three kinds: cheese cutlet, tenderloin cutlet, and loin cutlet! It may look like a small portion, but you are seriously full after finishing it.... haha. HOKATSU's own crisp-and-juicy tonkatsu method! HOKATSU's Wanjeong Station tonkatsu is not fried in advance, and the flour and breadcrumbs are not applied ahead of time either. It is cooked as soon as you order, so please note that it takes about 15 minutes on average!

How the crisp, juicy three-cutlet platter tasted

The freshly fried tonkatsu looked appetizing from the start, and after one bite, it was delicious: crisp outside and juicy inside. The pieces were large, so we split them in half. They went well with wasabi and tonkatsu sauce, and dipping the tonkatsu in salt worked nicely too. Golden-brown fried, so the presentation was great. Paired with the rice that came with it, it was light and good. The tenderloin cutlet has a redder color, but it is not undercooked; it is from red-toned myoglobin found only in fresh meat. The red color appears from heat during cooking, and it occurs only in healthy, fresh pork, so you can eat it without worry!

Can you see how the cheese cutlet stretches and stretches? A cheese show for the kids, haha. The cheese cutlet was soft inside too. The kids found it fascinating and ate the cheese cutlet best of all. The meat was not too dry and was tender, so it was mild and delicious even without sauce~~~!

Catchtable and parking tips when it is full

Wow, it was full!!! Definitely a Wanjeong Station favorite.... Since it is also on Catchtable, I think it would be fine to check and join the waitlist if it is full. If you arrive late, your turn may be skipped.

HOKATSU waiting notice when the restaurant is full

I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves tonkatsu!!! HOKATSU, a Geomdan favorite, gives you 2 hours free when you use the underground garage! Be sure to register your parking before you leave~~ If the garage is full, you will need to use the public parking lot behind the building. The public lot is paid!
