Geomdan bar course with tripe tacos and pork steak: Matgim
In short
Matgim is a bar near Dokjeong Station in Geomdan, Incheon, serving seasonal course meals. I tried the September six-course menu for 35,000 won per person, from fig and tofu cream cheese to plum granita, with the tripe tacos and pork tenderloin steak standing out. Verdict: a light but never boring choice for a special dinner.

Matgim, a Geomdan omakase spot near Dokjeong Station
I heard there was an omakase specialist in Geomdan New Town and got curious, so I went to check it out. It is the place with the fun name, Matgim (맡김) :) The September seasonal course had just been refreshed, so I visited excited to see what would be served.
Matgim is about 317 m from Exit 1 of Dokjeong Station, so it was conveniently located for getting there from the station :)

If you are looking for omakase or a course meal in Geomdan New Town, this may be one to keep an eye on 🤍

There is also Matgim's unique photo spot beside the wine cellar 🤍

When I opened the door and stepped in, it felt cozier than I expected. Above all, it has an open kitchen, so I could watch the food being prepared right in front of me :) Seeing the cooking up close made the wait less boring, and it was fun to watch too!!
The ₩35,000 September seasonal course

We ordered the Matgim course at ₩35,000 per person :) It included six dishes from appetizer through dessert, and I was told the menu can change with the season or circumstances 🤍
That day's course went in this order:

Fig and tofu cream cheese → grilled baby napa cabbage → tripe taco → daily pasta → pork tenderloin steak → plum granita ✨ As I tried them one by one, each dish had a slightly different feel, so the whole course never felt monotonous 🤍
Six dishes, from fig to plum granita
First: fig and tofu cream cheese

The first dish was fig and tofu cream cheese. The fig's gentle sweetness met the nutty, smooth tofu cream cheese, making it a lovely light start :) It was especially nice that the seasonal figs gave it such a sense of the season 🤍 It felt like a gentle way to wake up the appetite from the very first dish 𓂃
Second: grilled baby napa cabbage
Second was grilled baby napa cabbage. The cabbage was grilled whole, so it had a subtle smoky aroma on the outside while staying tender inside 🤍 I thought it would be a simple vegetable dish, but the nutty flavor and texture created by grilling made it much tastier than expected :)

Having dishes like this throughout the course gave the overall balance a nice touch!
Third: tripe taco

The tripe taco was a dish that exceeded my expectations that day :) At first, the pairing of tripe and a taco felt a little unfamiliar, but it worked better than I expected once I tried it!! The tripe's distinctively chewy texture was joined by the crisp, nutty taco shell, so there were several textures in one bite :) It contains cilantro, so anyone who cannot eat cilantro should let them know in advance.
Fourth: daily pasta
Fourth was the daily pasta. As the name suggests, it is a pasta dish that changes from day to day 🤍 I normally do not tend to like pasta other than noodle pasta, but this one had a gentle buttery aroma in the tomato sauce and was not rich or cloying at all—it was totally my style 🤍

With pasta in the middle of the course, the whole lineup felt a little more filling too 🤍
Fifth: pork tenderloin steak
Fifth was the course's main, pork tenderloin steak. Perhaps because it was tenderloin, the texture was soft, and it was cooked just right, making it easy to enjoy :) After all the dishes that came before, I was starting to get full by this point, but...

Still, it felt like a satisfying finish worthy of a main dish, which I liked 🤍 Personally, it was the dish I was happiest with in this course.
Sixth: plum granita

Last was plum granita. It was sweet-tart and refreshing, perfect for cleansing the palate at the end of the meal :) It was a light, sorbet-like dessert, so even when I was fairly full, I could finish without feeling burdened 🤍
The lasting impression of the tripe taco and pork tenderloin steak
Overall, getting six dishes for ₩35,000 did not feel like too much of a commitment :) From appetizer to vegetables, taco, pasta, main, and dessert, the mood of the food kept changing as the dishes arrived, so it was not boring even within one course 🤍 The tripe taco especially stayed with me because it was unusual, while the pork tenderloin steak was soft, satisfying, and delicious!! My boyfriend said the pasta was the most delicious dish he had that day :) Being able to watch the food prepared in the open kitchen was another of Matgim's charms.
If you would like a special dinner in Geomdan, or are looking for Geomdan omakase or a good restaurant near Dokjeong Station, I think it would be worth visiting at least once 🤍 It is also a course that pairs nicely with wine or sake, so it could be a good option for anyone looking for a casual dinner or date spot 🍷
