A long-overdue Hongdae date with my sister🤍 While looking up what to eat for dinner, I found a BBQ place that could satisfy both of us at once — my beef-loving sister and me, team pork👀!!! They have a hanwoo (Korean beef) + hanpork combo set, so we could enjoy both beef and pork➰ Introducing Gogikkun Gim Chunbae🥩 They have several branches, so I'd been curious, and this time I went to the main branch✨

Gogikkun Gim Chunbae Hongdae Main Branch is on the 3rd floor of 36 Hongik-ro 3-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The 3rd floor runs 12:00–23:00 (last order 22:00), and the 4th floor 12:30–22:30 (last order 21:30). It's corkage-free, takes reservations, welcomes groups, and has separate men's and women's restrooms.

Open the cute door and inside it's full of Japanese yakiniku-restaurant vibes🫧 The soft lighting made for a really great atmosphere,,💛

There are partitioned private seats, which seem perfect for a date or a blind date, and group tables are also ready, so it looks great for gatherings or company dinners too!

You can book through Naver Reservation, so I'd recommend reserving before your visit〰️ I booked ahead and they had the table set up neatly, which I loved haha

The side dishes that come with the meat are neatly arranged and clean-looking. The wild garlic namul (seasoned greens) and pickled onions were especially good.

At Gogikkun Gim Chunbae, the staff grill the meat for you personally! (A Hongdae spot with tableside grilling) When they grill it for you, all you have to do is sit back and eat, which is just so nice

First up, the hanwoo sirloin they grilled🥩 The meat quality is great on its own, but the staff member's grilling skills were seriously insane haha How does anyone grill this well, legendary doneness

So good.. I ate the first bite plain, without dipping anything..? Even I, who's not really a beef person, ate it super happily. Juicy, tender, and moist hanwoo sirloin!

Diced rice, 8,000 won

Perfect timing on the diced kimchi rice — gotta pair carbs with the meat, right? I'd heard so many good reviews about it and was so curious haha

Kimchi fried rice with diced kimchi and meat mixed in — biting into the diced kimchi pieces here and there is a real treat. A flavor any Korean is bound to love.. Put a piece of meat on top of the kimchi rice and you'll die

Fresh short rib with half-and-half naengmyeon, 7,000 won

Next up, fresh short rib🐷

The half-and-half naengmyeon arrives〰️Half water naengmyeon, half spicy naengmyeon! I'd never seen a half-and-half naengmyeon before and it's completely my style,,,ღ Being able to eat both water and spicy versions was so great haha

It really soaked up that smoky flavor — I was amazed the moment I took a bite. Juices bursting, so chewy

Chewy pork skin and rich savory meat flavor in that pork belly🥩 So good as expected,,, The staff kept checking in and grilling the meat to perfection, which I really appreciated! Everyone was so kind, one moment of being touched after another,,ㅠㅠ

Meat quality and taste, side dishes, atmosphere, staff service and kindness — everything about this place was satisfying
