Yeonnam-dong has a lot of cute, aesthetic cafés with special coffee or desserts, but the one that stuck with me for its hand-drip specialty coffee was Central Site Yeonnam :)

What kind of café is Central Site Yeonnam?

Central Site Yeonnam is a local roastery café & brewing hand-drip specialty café — a Yeonnam-dong café where the fun is picking beans that suit your taste! You choose a bean, smell it, and watch the whole drip process, which I found really interesting.

When you smell the bean while thinking about its characteristics, the aroma sticks in your memory better. If you love coffee, this is a Yeonnam-dong café that'll be right up your alley.

Espresso vs hand drip: what is the difference?

Regular espresso machines extract quickly at high heat and pressure, giving you an iced Americano with a heavy body and crema. Hand drip, though, passes through a paper filter, so there's less off-flavor and a cleaner taste — you get to fully sense the fine flavors the beans carry, like bright fruit notes, acidity, and floral aromas. It's really gourmet coffee, haha.

Here's the hand drip being poured, trickle by trickle. I loved how the aroma got stronger as the coffee came down. Hand drip requires the whole process — grinding the beans, wetting the filter, blooming, then slowly pouring — and every step is an experience in itself. Smelling the rich coffee aroma that rises when water hits the grounds, and focusing on the sound of the drips falling, gives you real peace of mind :)

I chose Ethiopia Tamiru Natural and Colombia Finca Quebraditas Geisha Washed - Peach Punch! The names are so hard lol, and it wasn't easy imagining the flavor or aroma from them, so I was a bit torn while choosing, but the staff kindly recommended options based on my taste :)

Second-floor window seats and third-floor rooftop mood

This Yeonnam-dong café, Central Site, is 3 floors total. The charm of the 2nd floor is this window view where you can really feel the outdoors… you get that lush green vibe properly. It also has a slightly cozier atmosphere than the 3rd floor.

The 3rd floor has a rooftop-ish feel. Both floors had the AC blasting nice and cool!

I loved that I got to watch everything from smelling the beans to brewing them, plus a cute little note with detailed explanations about the coffee. The Colombia Quebraditas Geisha Washed Peach Punch I chose had a slight acidity with a charming peach-yogurt-like aroma and taste. It had vivid, varied fruit notes along with a gentle acidity that stood out, so it was fun to savor bit by bit 🙂

How was the classic tiramisu with chocolate chips?

Since it's a hand-drip specialty café, I honestly didn't expect much from the dessert, but I was surprised at how legit it turned out. The sponge was moist and well-soaked in strong coffee, and the cream, not too sweet, paired well so the tiramisu flavor really came through. It was so soft it went down like air, bubbly and light 🫧 and the chocolate chip topping added a subtle textural point that gave it another layer of charm.

With such strong coffee expertise, this felt like a Yeonnam-dong café that coffee lovers can't help but like. It's a great café for sitting by the window, watching the Yeonnam-dong street, and enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee.
