Shabu-shabu restaurant in Seohae with rice wraps: Shabuway

In short

Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant in Seohae, Incheon, with a salad bar, Vietnamese rice wraps, and desserts. I tried regular and spicy broths with vegetables and several meats, plus a peanut-and-chili sauce mix. Verdict: a filling choice for a date or group meal.

All the shabu-shabu meat and vegetables you could want

As the weather has gradually been getting cooler lately, I found myself craving warm broth dishes 🔥 I already love shabu-shabu, so today I visited Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch, where I could enjoy unlimited meat to my heart's content too 😆 The real charm of shabu-shabu is adding meat and vegetables exactly how you like, then finishing with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) or juk (rice porridge)!

The restaurant was really spacious and clean, so I could eat at a relaxed pace the whole time! There was such a wide selection, from shabu-shabu meat and vegetables to the salad bar, so I got to properly enjoy lots of delicious food 😁

From the salad bar to dessert

The salad bar had such a colorful variety of foods! Being able to have dessert and fruit too made it feel absolutely perfect 👍 I thought it would be just right for a family gathering or a meal with friends 😆

Freshly fried tangsuyuk

A Shabuway specialty! The freshly fried tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour pork) was seriously amazing 👍 The tangsuyuk was wonderfully crisp, so I kept going back for more 😆 With soft drinks and ice cream as well, I was so happy because this was a place where I could try such a variety of foods 😁

Vietnamese rice wraps and several kinds of meat

Everything was set up so I could enjoy Vietnamese rice wraps too, and I could pick out the vegetables I wanted :) With so many foods to enjoy alongside the shabu-shabu, it was also a perfect spot for a date!

There was everything from prime-grade beef to woosamgyeop (thinly sliced beef belly) and pork neck. Rather than eating just one kind of meat the whole time, I could switch things up depending on what I felt like that day, so I thought it would be easy for a group to suit everyone's tastes too 😆

My peanut-and-chili sauce combination

There was a sauce-combination guide, so I took a look! Personally, I love combining peanut sauce and chili sauce :) Adding minced garlic and chopped green onion to the chili sauce, then mixing it in, made the flavor even more fragrant 😋

Shabu simmered in regular and spicy broths

A generous unlimited refill of meat and vegetables!

Broth is the foundation of shabu, of course!!! Once you're seated, you choose which broth to have :) Since shabu feels completely different depending on the broth, I gave it some thought, but chose regular broth and spicy broth! I think that's probably the most classic combination 😅

Add vegetables and meat, and the shabu-shabu is ready :) I added mushrooms too! Bean sprouts really do go so well with shabu 😆

Load it up with napa cabbage, all kinds of mushrooms, bok choy, and other vegetables, then let it bubble away, and the broth becomes perfectly flavorful :) Once everything is cooked, dip it right into the sauce and taste it—it is so delicious 😁

Adding salad-bar dishes along the way

I went to the salad bar and filled a plate with lots of different foods :) I tried each one, then went back for more of the dishes I liked! When you've been eating only shabu-shabu, you sometimes start craving something different; bringing over another salad-bar dish at that point felt like magic, because it made the shabu taste delicious all over again 😆

I also captured Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch's delicious food on video :) After eating, adding juk or kalguksu for one more round makes for a truly perfect meal out 👍

Final thoughts

This is a great place where you can properly enjoy everything from hot-broth shabu-shabu to the salad bar, fruit, and dessert! Pile in plenty of meat and vegetables, sample salad-bar dishes along the way, and finish with juk or dessert for a seriously satisfying meal :) Shabu is not overly seasonal, so it is wonderful both when you crave warm broth and when you want a balanced meal of vegetables and meat—I think I'll be back often ❤️
