Chuseok eve BBQ in Geomdan, Incheon: pork skin and noodles, Dwitgolmok

In short

Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi Geomdan Main Branch is a Jeju pork BBQ restaurant inside the Dangha-dong food alley near Wanjeong Station in Geomdan, Incheon. On the evening before the Chuseok holiday, a 7:30pm visit meant a short wait, then 3 servings of Jeju pork ribs (ddotgalbi), 1 serving of pork skin and a bowl of pork noodle soup, all grilled at the table by the staff. Thick ribs, chewy pork skin and free-refill banchan make Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi worth the trip whenever you crave Jeju black pork.

Craving meat for dinner right before Chuseok, I went looking for good restaurants near Wanjeong Station and landed on Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi. Tucked inside the Danghadong food alley near Wanjeong Station, it's a Geomdan BBQ restaurant specializing in Jeju pork.

Just a heads up — there can be a wait on weekends!

Where is Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi in Geomdan, and what are the hours?

Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi is located at 11 Cheongma-ro 167beon-angil, 1st floor, unit 101, Seo-gu, Incheon. It's within walking distance from Wanjeong Station, so access is decent.

Hours are daily from 16:00 to 23:00. I visited around 7:30pm the evening right before the Chuseok holiday, and being dinnertime, it was packed.

I couldn't get seated right away and had a short wait before getting in. Looking around while waiting, I saw everything from families having dinner to friends drinking over meat, giving the sense that this really is a well-loved local spot in Danghadong.

Parking is available behind the building, but the space isn't generous, so taking public transit or using a nearby lot is a good idea. I used a nearby public parking lot, but honestly the parking fee there was so expensive that I'd recommend looking for another option.

The biggest feature of Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi, as the name suggests, is that Jeju pork ribs (ddotgalbi) are the main event.

The signature Jeju ddotgalbi uses aged Jeju pork, currently priced at ₩16,000 per serving. It's a dish where you get to enjoy both thick cuts of meat and the chewy texture near the bone, apparently. There's also Jeju pork collar (mokssal) on the menu.

Besides the meat dishes, there's a good variety of meal options too — pork noodle soup, kimchi stew, doenjang stew, cold noodles, scorched rice soup — great for finishing off a meal after the meat.

What I ordered that day was:

  • 3 servings of Jeju pork ribs
  • 1 serving of pork skin
  • 1 pork noodle soup
  • 1 bowl of rice

That's what I went with. One nice thing about this place is that the staff grill the meat for you, so I didn't have to worry about the grilling and could just eat comfortably. Since the whole concept is aged Jeju pork grilled by the staff, even a first-time visitor can eat without any hassle.

Banchan and dipping sauces: are the refills really free?

Basic table setting with salted anchovy, salt and ssamjang

The basic side dish setup. Condiments include minced garlic + salted shrimp, ssamjang, salted anchovy (melotjeot), salt, and wasabi. Having so many condiment options to pick from was fun, and having melotjeot — a must-have with Jeju pork — was a nice touch ✨

Unlimited-refill side dish spread

The banchan consists of mountain garlic greens (myeongi namul), bracken fern, white kimchi, lettuce, and scallion shreds, all with unlimited refills. At a lot of BBQ places these days you have to pay extra for things like myeongi namul, so getting a clean, unlimited spread here was great.

How did the 3 servings of Jeju pork ribs taste?

Finally, the Jeju pork ribs arrived. The meat was quite thick, looking noticeably different from regular pork belly. Once the grilling started, the staff kept an eye on the meat and grilled it to just the right doneness, so all we had to do was sit back and wait.

Taking a bite of the well-grilled ddotgalbi, the lean part was soft, while the edges had a chewy texture, making it fun to chew. Given the thickness, the juiciness of the meat itself really came through, and the savory flavor unique to Jeju pork was pretty great too.

A piece of pork rib dipped in salt

I started off simple, dipping it in salt. The flavor was incredible 🫢

White kimchi grilling alongside the meat on the plate

There were several ways to pair it with the side dishes too. Dipping in salt first to taste the meat itself, and eating it with scallion shreds or myeongi namul worked well too. In particular, the white kimchi grilled together with the meat matched surprisingly well — it cut through the richness of the meat cleanly, making it great to eat in between bites.

Meat picked off the bone of the pork ribs

The part of the ddotgalbi attached to the bone was plump and had such a great chew to it. A taste of Jeju right here in Incheon 👌👌

Finishing with pork skin and pork noodle soup

It felt like a waste to stop after 3 servings of Jeju pork ribs, so I ordered a serving of pork skin too.

It comes pre-blanched once, so you just grill it until it softens up! Pork skin's appeal is its chewy texture, giving a completely different experience from the ddotgalbi.

Jeju-style pork noodle soup ordered to finish the meal

And to round off the meal, I also ordered pork noodle soup, a must-have meat-meal combo. It's a Jeju-style noodle soup with meat in a hot broth, great as a finishing meal after eating meat.

Is Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi near Wanjeong Station worth the wait?

Overall, having the staff grill the meat made things easy, and the Jeju ddotgalbi itself was a nice change of pace from regular pork belly. It tastes completely identical to the black pork you'd eat in Jeju itself — juicy and chewy 🫢

If you're searching for good restaurants near Wanjeong Station, in Danghadong, or in Seo-gu, Incheon, and you love Jeju pork, this is worth visiting at least once. I went around the peak dinner hour of 7:30pm and had to wait, so next time I plan to go a bit earlier or check ahead whether reservations are possible.

If you're near Wanjeong Station craving thick cuts of Jeju pork and want a BBQ restaurant where the staff grill it for you, Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi is worth a visit.
