Why we stopped at Pine Terrace after a Starfield Goyang outing

This is a review of Pine Terrace, a well-known Goyang bakery I visited after going to Starfield Goyang, when I wanted dessert before watching a movie. Being a large café, it has plenty of space across the 1st and 2nd floors, so there were lots of groups of older visitors.

Parking at Pine Terrace and the walking path nearby

The parking space at Pine Terrace is really wide, so there was nothing to worry about! Behind the parking area there's a small free zoo with chickens, birds, and rabbits, plus a water park facility nearby, so it seems like a great combo for an outing.

We took a walk along Gongneungcheon stream in front of Pine Terrace, and the neighborhood had such a lovely, Japan-like feel.

The top 3 breads people buy at Pine Terrace

Pine Terrace really sells a huge variety of bread, and it seemed especially popular with older visitors thanks to its nutty, not-too-sweet health breads.

• 01. Korean wheat milk bread - baked with organic milk and Korean wheat for an extra nutty, moist loaf
• 02. Ciabatta - with its crisp crust, chewy inside, and salty flavor, you keep reaching for more
• 03. Squid ink roll cheese bread - the nuttiness of squid ink pairs beautifully with the salty roll cheese

Both the 1st and 2nd floors have forks, knives, and even gloves set out so you can enjoy the bread neatly - handy for slicing it up yourself - and there was even lemon water available.

Handmade pine ade, 8,000 won

What surprised me when I got the drink was this gorgeous color... for a second I thought we'd accidentally ordered grapefruit instead of pineapple, but it really was pine ade!

They packed the drink full of pineapple fruit bits, which had a nice texture, and being a handmade ade, it was refreshing rather than syrupy-sweet. Since they sell everything from fresh fruit juice to handmade ade, it's a good spot to visit with older folks in Goyang too, and there were plenty of families there.

Fresh cream fruit cake, 8,000 won

I couldn't resist grabbing this one after seeing how it looked, and from the moment I picked it up you could feel how soft the cake was. Bottom line: it melts in your mouth and is just delicious without being overly sweet. The cream is so mild and not overly sweet that saying it's 100% milk wouldn't even be an exaggeration - it just melts away.

On top of that, big chunks of melon are layered in between the fresh cream, so it's great to eat together. The melon was perfectly in season, and the combination with the mild milk cream was just right. It's the kind of cake Koreans love - tasty but not too sweet.

Potato & sausage bread, 6,500 won

Even with the place packed and orders pouring in nonstop, I was touched that they sliced the potato sausage bread for us to make it easier to eat! We grabbed a fork and knife from the self-service bar and cut it into even smaller pieces, which made for the perfect bite size.

Underneath the sausage there's mashed potato, and if you know your food, you know how good the sausage-and-potato combo is. The salty sausage and mild potato go really well together.

Is Pine Terrace worth a return visit?

If you're looking for a bakery café in Goyang, I'd recommend visiting Pine Terrace. The bakery items and drinks were genuinely delicious and it's the place I remember most, so next time I'm in Goyang on a trip near Seoul, I plan to make a return visit to this Wondang bakery café.
