Duck BBQ dinner near Incheon Children's Science Museum: Ganaandeok

In short

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is a charcoal-grilled fresh duck restaurant on Jangje-ro in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, near Bakchon Station. After the 3:50pm session at the Incheon Children's Science Museum, the writer came here for dinner with a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old and grilled fresh duck that tasted nutty and clean with just a dab of roasted salt. Between the seaweed soup, sticky rice and the foil-wrapped sweet potatoes tucked into the charcoal, Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch makes an easy family dinner to pair with a science museum outing.

Every weekend lately, I find myself wondering where to take the kids. This weekend we went back to the Incheon Children's Science Museum, a place we visited before and had so much fun at that we couldn't see everything. We booked the 3:50pm slot, planned to look around, then grab dinner before heading home!

After a full day out with the kids, picking dinner is always a bit of a puzzle. Lately I've been all about "meat parenting" haha, so naturally I looked at meat options. Searching for something adults would enjoy and kids could handle too, I landed on fresh duck charcoal grill — something we rarely make at home — and headed to Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch.

Where is Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch, and how far from the Children's Science Museum?

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is located at 1F, 1038 Jangje-ro, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. It's fairly close to the Incheon Children's Science Museum, so it worked perfectly as a dinner stop after a museum outing with the kids. It seemed like a solid option for anyone searching for a Bakchon Station restaurant in Incheon or a family dining spot in Gyeyang-gu.

Inside Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch: parking and how easy it is with kids

The moment we walked into Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch, it felt very spacious and comfortable. It seemed like a newly opened location — clean overall, with generous spacing between tables, so dining with kids didn't feel stressful at all.

The parking lot in particular was huge, making it easy to visit by car. It seemed like a great fit not just for families but also for gatherings with parents or groups of friends.

Charcoal-grilled fresh duck: how it is grilled and the roasted salt

We ordered the signature menu, charcoal-grilled fresh duck.

The moment the meat arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the vivid color of the fresh duck.

The meat looked in great condition and had a nice sheen, making me think "wow, this is going to be good" before it even hit the grill.

Duck is grilled to a golden brown over charcoal, and the key point is flipping it often, almost stir-fry style, so it doesn't burn!!

Duck and charcoal really are a hard combination to mess up. With a subtle smoky aroma, the outside turned golden while the inside stayed moist and juicy — delicious.

It wasn't overly greasy — more savory and clean, so I kept reaching for more. Every table has roasted salt ready to go, and personally, rather than piling on extra sides, I found dipping the duck lightly in roasted salt was the tastiest way to eat it. Since the meat itself was fresh, just a light touch of salt brought out the duck's savory flavor well. No need to dip a lot — a light touch kept it perfectly seasoned, not salty.

Grilled duck with kimchi

And Ganaandeok is a kimchi champion!!!

Eating it alongside the kimchi was really delicious too.

Seaweed soup and rice for a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old

One menu item that came as a welcome surprise for our visit with kids was the miyeokguk (seaweed soup). (Oops, no photo of that one.) Kids can vary a lot in how much duck they'll actually eat, so having seaweed soup made it much easier to feed them with rice. We visited with our 5-year-old and 2-year-old, and while the adults focused on grilling and eating duck, the kids could have seaweed soup and rice with some duck mixed in — a solid setup for a family dinner outing.

And the rice was so sticky and good! I always say you can judge a place by its rice. Pass!

Sweet potatoes roasted in the charcoal

Another fun touch was that when they first bring out the charcoal, they wrap sweet potatoes in foil and toss them right into the coals. I forgot all about it while eating the duck, but once we finished the meat and pulled them out, they were cooked through to the center.

Splitting the warm sweet potato in half, it was so sweet and delicious, probably from slow-roasting in the charcoal. Even though we were already full, the kids and I kept picking at it and it disappeared fast.

Is Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch worth it for a family dinner?

Above all, the fresh duck looked to be in great condition, and it was tasty even with just a light dip in roasted salt straight off the charcoal — duck lovers should be satisfied.
