Bangi-dong Korean BBQ after a Jamsil date: Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a Hanwoo beef gopchang (small intestine) and daechang (large intestine) grill restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul. After a date in Jamsil, the writer put her name on the waitlist, waited about 20 minutes and ordered one serving of beef gopchang, two servings of beef daechang and kkakdugi jeorim garlic yangbap, with staff grilling by timer and cutting the meat at the table. The gopchang was packed with gop and the daechang was tender, but the day's winner was the kkakdugi garlic yangbap, eaten two bowls deep.

Every time I passed through the Bangi-dong food alley, there was one gopchang (grilled beef intestine) restaurant I kept saying I'd visit—
I really need to come here with Baekkomi next time!
—and that place was Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch ^_^

I finally got to go while on a date in Jamsil! That day happened to be the re-release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle with a stage greeting from Shinobu's voice actor, so I finally got to see it! Got a poster too, hehe 💜 Though the stage greeting suddenly started during the ending, which was a bummer... I really wanted to watch it all the way through ㅠ0ㅠ

How long is the wait at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in the Bangi-dong food alley?
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is clearly a popular Bangi-dong spot, since we couldn't just walk right in when we arrived. We wrote our name on the waitlist and sat on the chairs outside for about 20 minutes before getting a table! It's a wait-worthy restaurant, but the staff are super quick and the table turnover is pretty fast too ㅇ3ㅇ

While waiting, Baekkomi and I seriously debated what to order, and once it was our turn and we got inside, everyone was eating so happily that I naturally started glancing at other tables' orders lol. I was so curious what this Bangi-dong beef gopchang everyone waits for actually tastes like (yay⭐)

One serving of beef gopchang plus two of daechang: why not choose?
After a long back-and-forth, here's what we ordered:
- Beef gopchang (1 serving)
- Beef daechang (2 servings)
- Kkakdugi jeorim garlic yangbap (kkakdugi radish kimchi and marinated garlic fried rice)
That's what we went with. Baekkomi and I both love gopchang and daechang, so we couldn't skip either lol

Three house-made kimchi and steamed egg: the side dish lineup
After ordering, the banchan (side dishes) started arriving one by one

What stood out the most here was the house-made kimchi, three kinds! Scallion kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, and altari radish kimchi all on one plate.
This right here is the good stuff

For me, someone who loves pairing kimchi with rich, savory food like gopchang or daechang, this was such a welcome side dish, ugh ㅠ0ㅠ Can't help being Korean lol

They also sell the scallion kimchi for takeout. And there was a little sticker stuck on the kimchi plate!
Other customers had been peeling off the stickers and sticking them on the window frame one by one, so I couldn't just walk past it lol. I peeled one off too and stuck it right on the window frame. This little bit of shop culture is honestly, no, extremely cute!!!
Steamed egg came out next!

Timer-grilled and cut by staff at the table
Finally, the main dish arrives!

A whole pan piled high with beef gopchang, beef daechang, tteoksari (rice cake sticks), chives, potato, and kimchi. It looked so generous even before we started eating, our expectations shot up!
Here, the staff set a timer and let it grill >0< When the timer rings, they come back and cut everything into bite-sized pieces for us.

We just got to sit back and watch the gopchang cook nicely! When the timer went off and staff cut it into perfect pieces, we finally dug in!
What does the Hanwoo beef gopchang taste like?
First bite of beef gopchang. I dipped it in a sauce full of minari (water dropwort) aroma — (I normally don't eat minari, but the sauce was genuinely delicious... 💚)
Oh...
It was packed with fat inside, so it was really rich and savory
You could really taste the deep, savory richness of the fat combined with the beef gopchang's flavor, and the more you chewed, the more the savoriness built up. I sort of understood why people seek this place out for Bangi-dong beef gopchang.

Is the beef daechang too rich?
We also dug straight into the beef daechang that I love.

Daechang can easily come off greasy, but the daechang we had that day tasted, to me, less greasy and more soft, pillowy, and savory. It had umami too, so my chopsticks kept going back for more. Guess I'm a daechang person after all lol

Baekkomi said gopchang absolutely needs soju, so we ordered some too. We started the day with a Jamsil date and somehow ended up having gopchang and soju time lol

The pick of the night: kkakdugi jeorim garlic yangbap
While we were happily eating gopchang and daechang, the kkakdugi jeorim garlic yangbap we ordered showed up too! Just from the name, it had all the ingredients I love, so I had high expectations.
I mixed it well and took a bite. The crunchy kkakdugi, mild teuk-yang (premium beef tripe), and marinated garlic all came together for a really great texture.
The crunch of kkakdugi + the mildness of teuk-yang + the umami of marinated garlic
That combination worked so well together. Even though I was pretty full after the gopchang and daechang, I couldn't stop eating this lol I think I scooped up two whole bowls...! Seriously delicious >3<

Who Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is for
Out of everything we ate that day, the kkakdugi jeorim garlic yangbap was hands down my favorite. That day I left Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch having thoroughly enjoyed beef gopchang, beef daechang, and the yangbap. There was a wait when we arrived, but it was only about 20 minutes, so it was manageable just sitting there. Waiting and then eating well made for a satisfying meal! From the three kinds of house-made kimchi, to the steamed egg and chive salad, to the full pan of gopchang and daechang, and finally the kkakdugi jeorim garlic yangbap — it was quite a generous spread.
If you're looking for a place to eat beef gopchang or daechang in Bangi-dong, or looking for somewhere to eat in the Bangi-dong food alley after a Jamsil date, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch might be worth checking out
If you love both gopchang and daechang like I do, I'd recommend ordering both together like we did! There were people still waiting outside after we finished, so we made a quick exit once we were done lol Bangi-dong food alley really is a hot spot!
