Gyeongju Bomun-danji café with butterfly pea grapefruit ade: Yard

This fall, I went on a Gyeongju trip to celebrate my first wedding anniversary! I timed the trip for autumn flower season, so there were so many great spots for flower viewing.

Among them, I heard about a café famous for its view of fully bloomed yellow cosmos, so I went to check it out. A Gyeongju Bomun-danji café that's also great for a Gyeongju date — this place, Yard. Here's my review!

How was the yellow cosmos field at Yard on September 24?

In front of café Yard stretches a yellow cosmos field of roughly 1,000 pyeong. As of September 24, the start of Chuseok holiday, the orange flowers were in full bloom.

Here's what the outside of café Yard looked like today :) The cosmos view is so pretty, right!? But before admiring it, let's check parking first…

The parking lot is right beside the café! It looked like it could fit about 10–12 cars. After parking, before resting at the café, we headed to the cosmos field first :3

And here's the photo he took of me in the cosmos field in front of Yard. No matter where you shoot, the fully bloomed flowers make a gorgeous backdrop… This was the bloom status as of September 24, the start of Chuseok holiday.

The cosmos bloom period runs from August 15 to October 15, apparently! Everyone should go before it's too late and enjoy the roughly 1,000-pyeong cosmos field. It's a great spot for things to do in Gyeongju, and perfect for a date too haha.

Inside Yard: first floor, second floor and terrace seats

Yard is a café with outdoor terraces on both the first and second floors. We picked a second-floor spot so we could look down over the flower field.

After finishing our flower viewing, we headed into the café to enjoy the view from the second floor! Here's what the first-floor interior looks like.

On the first floor there's also an outdoor terrace, great for a nice day like today! There's a terrace on the second floor too, so we decided to use that one :0

We came up to the second floor! A clean, bright space. We grabbed a seat here too!

There are seats where you can comfortably stretch your legs out! Couples could lie back here and watch a movie together on an iPad…

We also checked out the second-floor terrace where you can admire the cosmos field! The open view from the terrace made it even better! Café Yard lets you enjoy the cosmos both outside and inside, haha. Now, let's head down to the first floor to order!

Yard's menu — brunch is served only until 3pm

At Yard we ordered an iced americano, their signature butterfly pea grapefruit ade, and a crepe cake. We visited in the afternoon, so sadly we couldn't order brunch.

How do Yard's butterfly pea grapefruit ade and crepe cake taste?

Yard's butterfly pea grapefruit ade wasn't overpoweringly grapefruit-flavored, and had a nice sweetness. The iced americano was rich and nutty, and the crepe cake had a really strong cream flavor.

We took our coffee, drinks, and cake back up to the second-floor seat we'd saved!

The butterfly pea grapefruit ade in such a stunning color! The grapefruit flavor wasn't too strong, so it was sweet and easy to enjoy :) The color was so pretty too, perfect for photos!

The iced americano was nutty and rich too, perfect for quenching thirst! Iced americano really is the best when you're parched, ugh, b

And finally, the crepe cake! Each thin layer stacked so deliciously, yum :3 We tried it in a few different ways. Layer upon layer of crepe with a really strong, delicious cream flavor!

After thoroughly enjoying the drinks and cake, we took one last look at the cosmos field and said goodbye! It was just a short trip with my husband, but it was so good I was sad to leave. Flower-field date + Instagram-worthy spot + café — Yard checks all the boxes. Really loved it..!

Final verdict: is Yard worth it for a Gyeongju date?

A café with a view of a fully bloomed cosmos field — recommended as a Gyeongju must-visit and date course!

Go see the yellow cosmos and enjoy a coffee too :3 It was such a fun date, and I hope you all get there in time for brunch and enjoy it for me — I was so sad to miss it..
