Kid-friendly Gyeongju café with yogurt smoothies on the terrace: Yard

While traveling around Gyeongju, I was looking for a café to rest at, and since I was with kids, I thought a place with a pretty flower field would be nice — so I visited Yard, a café in Gyeongju.

As it happened, when I visited, the yellow cosmos were in full bloom, so I got to enjoy pretty flower views all around the café. Yard's cosmos bloom from August 15 to October 15, so if you want to see them in full bloom, I'd recommend timing your visit accordingly 🌼

Where Yard is in Gyeongju: location, hours and parking

Address: 2 Cheongun 2-gil, Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk / Hours: daily 9:00–20:00 (last order 19:30) / Brunch 9:00–15:00 (may close early if ingredients run out)

Yard is located near the Bomun tourist district, where major Gyeongju attractions like Bomun Lake, Gyeongju World, and Gyeongju Tower are clustered, making it an easy stop during a Gyeongju trip. Since it sits right along the main road by Gyeongju World, it was easy to reach by car and easy to spot even for first-time visitors.

Right in front of Yard is a wide flower field. On September 20, when I visited, the yellow cosmos were in gorgeous full bloom.

The weather was great too, so the view was so pretty! Such a perfect spot to feel autumn in Gyeongju ><

The orange cosmos stretched out wide, lovely to look at and great for taking pretty photos.

It's also a good spot for setting up a tripod, so bring one if you have it!

Inside Yard: first-floor bar seats and the no-kids second floor

Yard has two floors. The first floor has about five tables for four, plus a row of bar seating facing outward with a view of the scenery.

After looking around the first floor, I went up to the second floor. Just a note — the second floor is a no-kids zone!

The second floor also has several tables, and maybe because the space is bigger, the atmosphere felt a bit more relaxed than downstairs.

Yard is especially known for the pretty cosmos view from indoors, so the window seats on the second floor are probably the prime spot :)

Ordering at Yard's kiosk — bakery items sold out by 4 p.m.

Here's Yard's menu. There's no separate paper menu — you have to check the menu on the kiosk and order that way.

Besides coffee, there are lots of other drinks, and a variety of options including brunch, cake, bakery items, and bingsu (shaved ice dessert). Since I visited around 4pm on a weekend, there wasn't a single bakery item left. ㅠㅠ!

You can grab tableware from the self-serve bar.

Yogurt smoothies and chocolate cake on Yard's outdoor terrace

Since the weather was so nice on the day we visited, we chose the outdoor terrace over the indoor seating. Maybe because the space wasn't cramped, the kids sat nicely and behaved well too, haha.

What I ordered was a blueberry yogurt smoothie, a strawberry yogurt smoothie, and a chocolate cake.

Both drinks came in pretty generous portions, and with the smooth yogurt flavor plus a good dose of sweet syrup, they were refreshing and sweet — really tasty.

The chocolate cake was rich and fudgy, perfect for when you need a sugar boost, haha.

Who should stop at Yard during a Gyeongju trip

If you're looking for a café with a good atmosphere during a Gyeongju trip, Yard is worth a visit. It's especially good if you're looking for an aesthetic café for photos or a family-friendly spot in Gyeongju. We stopped by for a break during our trip and left satisfied after spending some relaxed time there :)
