Gyeongju café with Earl Grey fig cake and a cosmos field walk: Yard

Yard is a café in Gyeongju's Bomun-danji area, and honestly, it's a prime spot for yellow cosmos views.

I went to Gyeongju and it just happened to be cosmos season, so I couldn't just pass it by. While searching for spots in Gyeongju to take pretty cosmos photos, I found this café near Bomun-danji called Yard.

Getting to drink coffee at a café AND take photos in a cosmos field right in front of it? Perfect for a quick break during the trip while still soaking up the fall vibe, so I decided to visit.

How to get to Yard in Gyeongju, and where to park

Café Yard in Gyeongju's Bomun-danji is located at 2 Cheongun 2-gil. There's a parking lot beside the store too, so it's convenient if you're driving.

What Yard looks like from outside

Café Yard is a two-story building, and even from a distance the clean exterior caught my eye.

But most of all, the yellow cosmos field spreading out right in front of the café was truly overwhelming.

The 1,000-pyeong yellow cosmos field: bloom status in late September

I visited in late September, and the yellow cosmos were already almost in full bloom.

The orange and yellow flowers stretched out wide, and the weather was so nice that day that the blue autumn sky, white clouds, and yellow cosmos together made a truly beautiful scene.

It looked pretty in photos, but seeing it in person was even better. Right in front of Café Yard is a roughly 1,000-pyeong field of yellow cosmos. You can walk in among the flowers to take photos, so you don't even need to visit a separate tourist spot to capture that full autumn feeling.

Yellow cosmos in particular have sharper, more vivid colors than regular cosmos, so the photos really turn out great. Pretty against a blue sky, pretty when you capture the whole field, and taking a portrait among the flowers just completes the ultimate fall travel photo!

Inside Yard and the outdoor terrace seats

The inside of the café was also more spacious and clean than I expected.

The second floor was spacious and nice too~

Green trees were visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows, so it never felt stuffy indoors.

There's outdoor terrace seating too, so on a nice day it seemed like it'd be great to have coffee outside. You can also see the yellow cosmos scenery from the terrace side, so I think outdoor seats would be especially good on a cool fall day.

What is on the menu at Yard

Café Yard isn't just about drinks — there was also quite a variety of bread and cakes.

There were bakery items like croissants and cinnamon rolls that go well with coffee, and the display case had several kinds of cake ready, so it was fun picking out dessert too.

The order: americano and Earl Grey fig cake

We chose a fig Earl Grey cake to go with our coffee.

With the subtle scent of Earl Grey cream and the addition of fig, it wasn't just a sweet cake — it had a fragrant, soft taste. It went especially well with coffee.

Traveling around Gyeongju means constant walking between sightseeing spots, so resting like this with coffee and cake really felt like recharging!

Is Yard worth a stop on a Gyeongju autumn trip?

Having coffee and dessert at Café Yard in Gyeongju's Bomun-danji, then stepping right out front to see the yellow cosmos and take photos, made for a really solid travel course. Especially since I visited in late September when the yellow cosmos were in full bloom, every shot was full of fall atmosphere.

I heard the cosmos last until mid-October, so keep that in mind!
