Geomdan Korean barbecue pork platter: Taedon
In short
Taedon Geomdan Sageori is a Korean barbecue restaurant on Wanjeong-ro in Incheon. My husband and I shared the 600 g pork platter; the clear texture contrast and filling sides made it a satisfying meal, though the sundubu ramen was intensely spicy.

My husband and I were looking for a Korean barbecue restaurant around Geomdan Sageori, so we visited Taedon Geomdan Sageori (태돈 검단사거리점). We ordered the 600 g large pork platter, and I remember not only the different textures of the two cuts but also the jjolmyeon and grilled shredded radish we ate with them.

How much was the large pork platter for two?
The small Korean pork platter was 400 g for ₩36,000, while the large was 600 g for ₩52,000. I wondered whether the large platter might be too much for two people, but we often end up adding more meat later, so this time we ordered the large platter from the start.

What sides come with a meat order?
When we visited, a notice said that meat orders came with bibim jjolmyeon, earthenware steamed egg, and assorted mushrooms starting in September. These were not included with the lunch special.
I lightly mixed the jjolmyeon by hand while wearing the disposable plastic gloves provided. The sweet-and-sour noodles went well with the meat when wrapped with scallions. The steamed egg had a soft, curdled texture that was easy to scoop up with a spoon.

How were the Dubai ssamjang and grilled shredded radish?
The ssamjang introduced as Dubai ssamjang contained a small amount of kadaif. Its crisp texture was not strong and only appeared occasionally, so it did not get in the way of the ssamjang flavor for me.

I have often seen fernbrake or kimchi grilled, but here we put shredded radish on the grill too. A sour aroma rose as it cooked, and once it absorbed the samgyeopsal fat, its tangy flavor became more pronounced.

How different were the samgyeopsal and chewy pork?
The domestic Korean pork samgyeopsal was clean-tasting without any off smell, and its savory fat spread moistly across my mouth. The chewy pork had more spring than the samgyeopsal, and I noticed the juices more as I chewed. The texture difference between the two cuts was distinct, making it fun to alternate between them.

Were the grill-fat drainage and wrap refills convenient?
There was a dedicated container for draining fat from the grill. As we cooked the samgyeopsal, the rendered fat drained away instead of pooling on the grill, which made the meal feel cleaner.

We could refill the wrap vegetables. There was no separate self-service bar, so whenever we wanted more, we requested them on the tablet. There was also a serving robot, which sometimes delivered the food we requested.
How much were the kimchi stew and sundubu ramen, and how did they taste?
The kimchi stew was ₩7,000 when ordered on its own, or ₩5,000 when selected with a meat order. If you plan to have the stew, ordering it with the meat is cheaper. It had a pronounced kimchi-broth flavor and was good for taking a spoonful between bites of meat.
The ₩5,000 ramen came with sundubu (soft tofu) in Shin Ramyun. It was much spicier than the Shin Ramyun I make at home—enough to leave my tongue tingling. It felt soothing in its own way, but the heat was strong. The noodles stayed chewy rather than turning soft, and considering the addition of sundubu, the price felt reasonable.

What dessert came from the review event?
We received dessert ice cream through a review event. Two scoops of vanilla ice cream came with finely crushed Oreo cookies. Dipping the ice cream into the cookies added a crunchy texture, and it quickly calmed my mouth after the fiery ramen.

Where did we park, and was the portion enough for two?
Taedon had a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant, so it was convenient to come by car. I also thought it would be a reasonable place to stop for dinner after visiting the Geomdan Seonsa Museum, Ara Waterway, or Dream Park Wildflower Complex.
Starting with the 600 g large platter and eating the jjolmyeon, steamed egg, an additional soup dish, and dessert left us full. We could alternate between samgyeopsal and chewy pork and try a variety of sides, so I would like to return when eating meat around Geomdan Sageori.
